  1. Storing your roof top tent RTT with garage ceiling hoist

Question: with the RTT and cargo bars on the roof, is there room on the cargo bar to fit an awning on the side?
  2. R1T vs Cybertruck size comparison

Cool to see an enthusiastic and genuine comparison between the CyberTruck and the R1T. But to respond to an earlier post saying that the CyberTruck is just a truck, I would say you haven't been paying attention if that's how you genuinely feel about it. This vehicle, for better or for worse...
  3. First comparison look: Refreshed R1 facelift vs. Pre-Refresh model

Not for me, I love how cute the Rivian is, it gives me joy every day walking up to it. R2 and R3 both carry on the cutesy look and I love them as well.
  4. Roofnest Litewing Awning - Anyone use this awning on their R1S?

I am really hoping someone who has tried (and succeeded or failed) a 270 degree awning on the Rivian R1S joins and shares their experience. I am beginning to think having the awning out fully AND having the tailgate fully open is just not doable and I should give up. That means either get a...
  5. EV use can be more expensive than gas

BTW I saw this being posted on the Rivian subreddit, it's for Rivian owners with enphase solar installed in their house. It uses the Enphase API and the Rivian API to set charging speeds every 10 minutes depending on excess solar being generated. With this you can maximize usage of excess solar...
  6. EV use can be more expensive than gas

Is there a ToU rate for Tesla superchargers? I charge my Model 3 all this time and didn't know.
  7. NY to Vermont camping trip with Prinsu Rack + iKamper

Love this! I am going to hit you up with questions later haha. I've been on the lookout for a RTT and rack solution for a long time and your setup looks slick!
  8. EV use can be more expensive than gas

Oh right, I wasn't aware of SDG&E before. Curious what others in CA are getting in terms of electricity rate.
  9. EV use can be more expensive than gas

@fireroasted what do you mean by changed your plan? How much is your on and off peak rates? You're in CA right?
  10. EV use can be more expensive than gas

With recent hikes in electricity rates by PG&E it has become very expensive to charge your car at home in California, even during off peak hours. I get around 40 cents per kwH when charging at off peak rates. That is just crazy expensive now.
  11. Roofnest Litewing Awning - Anyone use this awning on their R1S?

I hadn't considered that tailgate open height could be different. This is something Rivian should do via software update. It wouldn't help in my case because the use case I'm going for is to have a tailgate kitchen setup. I want to be able to cook with the tailgate open and the awning out...
  12. Roofnest Litewing Awning - Anyone use this awning on their R1S?

Yes I would go with the XL. Currently the idea I cannot open the tailgate with this deployed is a deal breaker. Perhaps one could mount it much higher to compensate but I suspect it would be bad for aerodynamics as well as leave a bigger gap for sun and rain when deployed.
  13. Overland Systems 270 degree awning installed

Me too, I am also on the lookout for a 270 awning solution on my R1S where I can open the liftgate
  14. RoofTop Tent RTT Advice/Suggestions

Wouldn't a hard shell be better for R1S to not lose too much range due to aerodynamics?
  15. Roofnest Litewing Awning - Anyone use this awning on their R1S?

I'm interested in an integrated awning solution for the R1S. This one from Roofnest seems interesting: Pros: * Very light, 30 lb for small, 40lb for large * Hard shell cover, helps with aerodynamics * Integrated lighting Cons: * Seems like it doesn't handle rain very well? * Roofnest seems to...
  16. Tom Voelk R2 / R3x walk around deep-dive

I'm really intrigued by their treehouse RTT. The guy mentioned this is climate controlled? How does that work? Also the guy said all variants will get at least 300miles of range but he must have made a mistake with that? If the 45,000 variant gets 300mi sounds too good to be true.
  17. Trip to Pinnacle National Park and their charging infrastructure + camping

Thanks and keep these videos coming, will be adding to my list of places to visit.
  18. Conflict at the Supercharger

Oh it's real, the amount of tension and anger simmering away when a supercharger is full. Also if there's no designated spot to 'queue' for the charger and every car is on their own trying to stake out a waiting spot for a stall to become vacant. I already had one incident where a guy threatened...
  19. Camping (Overlanding?) with Rivian Crossbars, cargo box, and "lite" off-roading

I bought the tent as well after seeing your vid (used your ref link), tried it out on our lawn and saw it's possible to use stand alone. Can't wait to go camping with this!
