Cool to see an enthusiastic and genuine comparison between the CyberTruck and the R1T.
But to respond to an earlier post saying that the CyberTruck is just a truck, I would say you haven't been paying attention if that's how you genuinely feel about it.
This vehicle, for better or for worse...
Not for me, I love how cute the Rivian is, it gives me joy every day walking up to it. R2 and R3 both carry on the cutesy look and I love them as well.
I am really hoping someone who has tried (and succeeded or failed) a 270 degree awning on the Rivian R1S joins and shares their experience. I am beginning to think having the awning out fully AND having the tailgate fully open is just not doable and I should give up. That means either get a...
BTW I saw this being posted on the Rivian subreddit, it's for Rivian owners with enphase solar installed in their house. It uses the Enphase API and the Rivian API to set charging speeds every 10 minutes depending on excess solar being generated. With this you can maximize usage of excess solar...
Love this! I am going to hit you up with questions later haha. I've been on the lookout for a RTT and rack solution for a long time and your setup looks slick!
With recent hikes in electricity rates by PG&E it has become very expensive to charge your car at home in California, even during off peak hours. I get around 40 cents per kwH when charging at off peak rates. That is just crazy expensive now.
I hadn't considered that tailgate open height could be different. This is something Rivian should do via software update.
It wouldn't help in my case because the use case I'm going for is to have a tailgate kitchen setup. I want to be able to cook with the tailgate open and the awning out...
Yes I would go with the XL.
Currently the idea I cannot open the tailgate with this deployed is a deal breaker. Perhaps one could mount it much higher to compensate but I suspect it would be bad for aerodynamics as well as leave a bigger gap for sun and rain when deployed.
I'm interested in an integrated awning solution for the R1S. This one from Roofnest seems interesting:
Pros:
* Very light, 30 lb for small, 40lb for large
* Hard shell cover, helps with aerodynamics
* Integrated lighting
Cons:
* Seems like it doesn't handle rain very well?
* Roofnest seems to...
I'm really intrigued by their treehouse RTT. The guy mentioned this is climate controlled? How does that work? Also the guy said all variants will get at least 300miles of range but he must have made a mistake with that? If the 45,000 variant gets 300mi sounds too good to be true.
Oh it's real, the amount of tension and anger simmering away when a supercharger is full. Also if there's no designated spot to 'queue' for the charger and every car is on their own trying to stake out a waiting spot for a stall to become vacant. I already had one incident where a guy threatened...
I bought the tent as well after seeing your vid (used your ref link), tried it out on our lawn and saw it's possible to use stand alone. Can't wait to go camping with this!
