Bought a creeper and took a look underneath. I am missing two bolts on the very from seam between silver and black panel and two on the back seam at the junction with the rear panel. There is definitely excessive motion from the missing bolts, as I can see the holes actively misalign when I push...
I guess I have the same question as OP. I was assuming my recovery boards with a built in Jack pad would be sufficient with the Rivian scissor Jack and puck. Anyone feel this is inadequate for R1S?
@LivingInKaos and @estprft
is that the 42” FireHawk?
This one?

lol I knew there had to be an off-the-shelf lighted plate with a 4-pin. I searched every iteration on Amazon, hit AutoZone, o’reillys, and even U-Hual!
Gonna pick up the MasterLock, and return my small collection of failed hitch locks. thanks for posting!
Can you post or DM me some pics of the dash? I’m looking at feasibility of running a CarPlay head with rear backup camera wire to the passenger a-pillar, then along the roof molding to the back.
And for the wiring, these guys arrived a day late - could risk the motivation dying so I pilfered the wire nuts.
The wire nuts are probably fine for a little bit here in the desert. Eventually I’ll class up the install with a clean waterproof in-line corded marine switch. Something like this:
My understanding is that you can just cancel the “accessory detected” message and none of those features are disabled. See this THREAD
Keep in mind I’m just a hack, but my impression is that it is the brake lights and turn signals power draw that tell the truck there’s something attached to the...
And then I come full circle and convince myself it’s all placebo anyway.
Do we honestly think that Tesla’s wheel size adjustment would have any meaningful effect on accuracy when they basically gaslighted owners on range estimates? Sorry - off topic. Couldn’t resist.
I guess my main point is that they clearly have a calibration set for each of their three stock tires. So unless there is something physical that needs to be adjusted with the cameras, it seems like it should be easy to switch OTA - certainly easier than overhauling stability and traction...
I have accessory mode turned on to disable the backup sensor warnings. That’s all.
The trailer plug does not trigger trailer detection or towing mode. There are no warning lights in the driver display, so as far as I can tell no other safety features are disabled other than backup sensor...
Just seems odd that they can do a fairly significant OTA change in suspension behavior, arguably much more technical than a calibration change for OEM tire/wheels they supply! And the camera cal I just don’t buy - seems like they should have a pretty broad operating range given the changes in...
Lol. Jennifer Beales. Nice!
Here’s some info in the Rigid Armor swing arm hitch
https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/rigid-armor-hitch-spare-tire-carrier-for-r1s-installed-photos-review.19240/
@jonny2vests Here is a very recent thread with info on a new set of 20” rims available at TireRack. Much more reasonable than most of the forged or flow-forged options. I’m not sure but would assume they are cast given the price point. Someone will chime in and correct me...
Problem: R1S hitch mount spare tire carrier (see this thread) requires license plate relocation. Some states have lighting requirements for relocated plates.
Solution: Use selective adapter to pull tail light power from trailer hookup.
Benefits: Using just the tail light power does not trigger...
Thanks for posting. That’s actually the first time I’ve seen the matte on LA Silver. Looks awesome. I think I’d be in the doghouse if I spent any more at this point!
Here’s as far as I’ve gotten:
Shout out to Michael S. for taking the picture with his fancy new iPhone!
