I suspect that for now, Rivian wants to focus on vehicles with a higher sticker price and thus a higher profit. It’s not likely to be a physical issue with a smaller battery.
Personally, I’m looking to trade my large pack R1T for the dual-motor / max pack R1T when it comes out. Stay tuned —...
Recently I was routinely driving a very curvy stretch of highway with a 7% or 8% grade. The downhill portion always gave me the “regenerative braking reduced“ message so I punched the emergency flasher to mark the log and then called service and asked them to diagnose the problem. They told...
I didn’t realize that Rivian doesn’t consider Waypoints as part of the Adventure Network — point taken. Nor did I realize that all Rivian Waypoints are open to the public. With that in mind, I wonder who pays for the electricity used by Waypoints. I can see Rivian footing the bill for the...
Stopped by the RAN Waypoint charger in Cape Lookout State Park and was surprised to see a Tesla Model 3 using the charger. Talked to the owner who was very new to EV’s and thought Rivian was just another charging network and it was working fine for him. I was a little confused over how he...
Agree. A case in point is the RAN charger in Lincoln City, OR. It has a score of 2.1 but all the stalls work flawlessly. The score should be 10 but a couple of clowns reported it as non-operative because they couldn’t charge their Bolt or Lightning at a Rivian-only charger.
I have 2 sets, 20” winter tires & 21” summer tires. I installed the DCE Rock Sliders so I don’t have to mess with the goofy jack pucks — I can just lift the whole side of the truck. The only complication is adjusting the configuration software to show the different size wheels. So far, Rivian...
We held that opinion for a very long time and then Covid came along. Since we are in the high risk group we didn’t want to risk staying in a hotel (back then we didn’t understand how it spread) so we opted for a travel trailer to continue our travels. I agree it’s not for everyone, but we’ve...
This!!! PlugShare will help determine which stations are functioning and which ones are not trustworthy. My experience with EA has been dismal. Also ABRP is a very useful tool.
A bit off-topic, but my brother does a trip from Manitowoc to Gulf Shores each winter. He just received his R1T so...
Just be careful that the breaker in your panel and the lugs in the charger are rated for 90Âş C.
The NEC states that breakers under 100 amps are only rated for 60º C unless specifically noted on the packaging: 2011 NEC. I haven’t been able to find any spec for the Emporia temp limits.
Installed mine last night and I concur with @skunn, it was a pretty easy job — although it took me ½ hour just to open up all the packaging. ?
My truck was filthy when I did the install and the amount of dirt, gravel and sludge that fell out of the plastic panels was amazing. Those panels...
I didn’t bother to shop around because I just wanted the simplest way possible. I traded in my 2019 Model S and Rivian offered me what I paid for it. This was during the used car price war so I’m sure I could have done better selling it on my own.
Having used both, there’s no comparison when it comes to convenience. With the RAN you plug in and it just works. With EA you plug in and then spend 5 min trying to connect and then after 10 min you move to the next stall and try again. When you find an EA stall that does work it’s pretty...
Interesting. How were you “forced”? Did a squad of goons show up at your doorstep? I don’t see how Rivian offering you a vehicle without all the options you wanted qualifies as you being forced to purchase a sub-optimal vehicle. You could have easily said “no, thanks, i’ll wait” or “forget...
I’ve always felt the 200,000 vehicle limit should have been industry wide, not vendor specific. The original plan penalized the early investors (Tesla & GM) by giving the johnny-come-lately’s a benefit after the others created the market.
I’ve also felt that we should use as much of foreign...
Yep, because of the taper one experiences as the battery charges, it’s always quicker to charge the bottom half of the battery than the top half. Just one of those things we learn as we travel in our EV’s.
