I'm with you. All Apple products control you; you don't control them. I don't think that I want a truck that controls me. If Apple takes control of Rivian, I'll be headed back to Chevrolet.

I also have some thoughts on these issues and the future directions of the EV world. I am sorry to hear that Free Wire is folding. I believe that the concept is sound and could be the future of the EV infrastructure. Tesla's dropping of its Supercharger team is perplexing. Then again, many...
When using a Tesla Supercharger on my Rivian with an adapter, what is the correct order of insertion?
Do you plug the adapter into the Rivian and then plug in from the Supercharger, or do you plug the Supercharger cord into the adapter, and then plug into the Rivian?

Don't feel bad. There is a significant learning curve to this EV stuff. That's what this Forum is for. It is here to help us get through this conversion to a new automotive technology.

For a relatively new automobile manufacturer, Rivian has this software update routine down very well. I don't think that any other car company matches Rivian in this area. It is really nice when Opal gets an update sitting right in her parking spot at home.
I know that we all sit here on the...
Opal is operating on 2024.11.02. I have a total of nine garage door openers on her system. Five of these are shown on the driver screen with the proximity feature. So far, so good. All are operating as designed. Rivian has a very nice GDO system. In my Silverado, I have the three button Home...
Our ten year old Airstream that has two places to plug in 30 amp power. One is at the left front; the other is at the left rear. This makes hooking up at the campground very convenient regardless of the power outlet location. Ev's (including Rivian) should be set up this way to avoid all of...
I wouldn't be too concerned about waiting for Rivian to install a native NACS charging port. That might leave you without a Rivian for another year or two. Adapters are very easy to use and part of the EV world. Don't deprive yourself while waiting for not much.

We have had Opal (our R1T) for a little over a year now. She has 6,700 miles on her. We have no intention of getting the 7,500 mile multipoint inspection. We are still over 300 miles from the nearest Rivian Service Center. We thought that Rvian would have improved their service capability by...
Thanks for that information. Even the two new ones in Florida are still further than Atlanta. I was hoping for some expansion of the Mobile Service.
