  1. R1T Tailgate Sensor Problem

Thank you for this information. I have a tri-fold rigid tonneau cover. I will check it to see if it is somehow interfering with the tailgate sensor. VBrian
  2. When will Rivian get CarPlay? Need better Nav and hands free text

Rivian has said from the very beginning that they will NOT have Carplay or Android Auto. They do not want any outside software within their proprietary systems. Both the Apple and Android vehicle systems not only provide information, they also take information. Rivian will most likely never...
  3. Towing Report: Airstream Pottery Barn >> R1S Gen 1 (First Tow)

I am very impressed with the 1.41 m/kWh efficiency. We pull 2015 Flying Cloud 25FB. Our Airstream weighs 7,300# ready to camp. We are only getting 1.2 m/kWh on short runs on US Highways. We tend to stay off the Interstates. Are you using the freeways, and if so, what kind of speeds are you...
  4. New York City in an EV-Only World

That is an interesting concept that could become reality on a future evening. Brian
  5. HOME CHARGER OPTIONS

When we began this EV journey, we were complete neophytes. SuEllyn placed her Rivian deposit on November 28, 2018. When we finally got our Opal (our R1T), we had been on this Forum for a couple of years. We had learned quite a bit, but still had no real life EV experience. We had purchased the...
  6. R1T Tailgate Sensor Problem

Opal is the same way with all the sensors showing off. Opal's tailgate mechanisms are solidly locked. We have had Opal for almost two years. I have tried both a hard and a soft reset. This has not corrected the problem, but the tailgate no longer shows as open on the driver screen picture of the...
  7. R1T Tailgate Sensor Problem

Opal (our R1T) is experiencing a problem with her tailgate sensor. Her tailgate is closed and locked but it is showing as open on the driver screen. It does not seem to be a problem with the locking mechanism. is secure and in place. I have opened and closed her tailgate numerous times trying to...
  8. PAAK fails, only after I’ve left my house

I have not experienced this issue, but as a person who always has back-ups, I always carry the fob and the card. The PAAK has not failed me yet, but I'm ready just in case. Brian
  9. Samsung Ultra Watch

Rivian has always seemed to lean towards the "Apple Heads". I have always assumed that RJ drinks the Apple Koolaid, so the whole company must lean in that direction. I'm surprised that an Android can even open a Rivian. I have noticed that on my Samsung Watch Ultra, I can download Apps to...

  12. Yes, we are waving at you!

I doubt that your guys will make this far, but if you do, I'm on board with waving. This is the kind of behavior that creates real lifelong car guys. Brian
  13. Front camera - steering guide lines?

I have found the front steering guidelines in my 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 to be very useful when maneuvering a vehicle in tight places. I have always found my R1T to be lacking without this easily included feature. Brian
  14. Update this week! Christmas treat, Youtube, Google Cast, Sirius XM, Pandora, Enhanced Lane Change, Scheduled Drive, Gen 2 KeyFob enhancement & fixes!

Both SuEllyn and I use the PAAK. I also always carry the key fob. I use it regularly to open and close the frunk. I also use the key fob to make Opal hoot on command in the Publix parking lot to watch people look around for the owl. I am easily entertained. Brian
  15. Alexa Functionality

I have been using Alexa for quite some time, and find her to be very fickle. One day she will be spot on. The next she will be very difficult to deal with and cannot complete the simplest request. I don't know what to make of this behavior. I think that Alexa made need some AI interface. Brian
  16. New R1T TriMax in my garage

Beautiful Truck! Congratulations. It looks somewhat familiar. Brian
  17. CA insurance renewal skyrocketed

I just got my six month auto insurance bill from Allstate. I live in the rural Florida Panhandle and have been insured by Allstate for over forty years. I have full coverage on three vehicles. I am insuring a 2015 Airstream Travel Trailer, a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Duramax, and a 2023...
  18. Is there a future plan for vehicle servicing? Before the R2/R3/R3X models come out

Now that Rivian has struck a software agreement and money has changed hands with Volkswagen, they should seriously consider partnering with them for at least some of the service requirements. Rivian needs to give some serious consideration to partnering for service. When the R2 and R3 hit the...
