Agreed but if they can do their 2023 volume in fewer shifts while accounting for the shutdown/cutover that sounds like substantial progress.
I had the same instinct on wondering about early R2 production but have no idea what kind of flexibility that would require on the line.
Had an excellent experience picking up my R1S in Mahwah today. The gentleman that took care of us was super patient and generous with his time (like he spent 90 minutes) to set everything up for my wife and I.
If you have the opp to pick up there I thought it was a great vibe.

Update: got a text today that they have my car in NJ (started out like Q tip's wallet in El Segundo) and can deliver to me on 3/4.
So: R1 Shop order on 2/15, Update 2/28, Delivery (hopefully 3/4). Overall turnaround ~ 3 weeks on promised 1-6 week window.

I had a fabulous experience with my guide. She actually called me back several times once day chasing down different answers to our questions and responded to all emails within 24hrs.
Sadly, once I found a match in the R1 Shop she handed me off to another guide specialized in delivery process...
I finally found my build (or basically any DM+Anything less than Max pack) last week after several months on the R1 Shop.
IMHO, it's not so much a lack of demand but a mismatch of what they've had in supply vs. the builds people want.
My sense is there is still a significant queue of folks...
