Rivian says there's no room for chains on any wheel. They recommend cables (at most) on 21" or 22" OEM tires in the rear (both are 33" diameter). They recommend only tire socks on the front regardless of tire size, and only tire socks on 20" OEM tires (34" diameter) regardless of axle. Got...
After first installing my first SnapPlate, @PappaBolt, I gave it a gentle tug to test it.
When it came out of the grille too easily, because the rotating cam hadn't reached past the back of the grille, I adjusted it in accordance with directions.
When I installed it the second time, it seated...
Two things with SnapPlate:
(1) When installing, it's important to test the latching by giving a SLIGHT tug forwards. Sometimes it needs adjustment per the instructions. [EDIT 2024-01-13: Better yet, check button alignment. See @EveryAmp's 2024-01-13 clarification!]
(2) It's designed to...
Consider double-checking that your credit card on file with Rivian is the one you think, @Nuse.Rae. Sometimes there's more than one thing going wrong.
Very best wishes!
Spikes-Spiders don't take up much space, but they impair R1s' steering when placed in front.
So we can only put Spikes-Spider traction devices on the rear tires, where they seem safe (even though Rivian cautions against them).
We're hoping to buy socks, but haven't done it yet.
Our Rivians are in our driveway. We pay $20 a month ($10 x 2) for rodent bait stations, anchored to small concrete blocks, that sit under the front of each Rivian when it is parked.
Even with the concrete anchors, the Rivians' ground clearance means they don't scrape the bait stations even at...
And Uber gets sued for not vetting their drivers better! I'm not a lawyer, but my understanding is that "it's hard to avoid getting caught" doesn't deter all crime, and "somebody else did it" doesn't eliminate much liability.
This isn't quite the same as the Coast Guard call for other boats to...
Clearing extra snow certainly seems easier when the tonneau is closed.
Or maybe: Since it may get stuck, sometimes for days, consider leaving it in the position you would least dislike it being stuck in?
Best to all!
The faceplate and outlet seem to have seen a lot of years, @DKM_R1S. This installation may predate the entire era of modern electric vehicles.
Even if what you see is safe, I'd be very uncertain about what's inside those walls. What you can't see can start a fire as easily as the visible...
Others' opinion shouldn't matter, but sometimes it does.
In the late 1980s, I worked as a state government official ("bureaucrat" to some) in Indiana. I knew I would be traveling regularly to all parts of the state.
I needed a new car for the work. I wanted the reliability of a Toyota...
I'm sure not expert, @Dark-Fx, but is it possible you're comparing your Rivian's in-vehicle payload ("combined weight of occupants and cargo") with some trailering-related statistic on your Denali ("max payload")?
I'm confused why GM would have put non-trailer-related payload information on a...
Rivian would also need a waiver of liability from all parties involved.
Most, but not all, Rivian owners are smart, wise, honest, and nonviolent.
However, Rivian shouldn't assume liability for the exceptions, who might call for help as an ambush; respond to a call as a criminal opportunity; or...
Perhaps more wrong information from sales reps, @R1Thor. Or your wife misunderstood -- but, sadly, I think miscommunication within Rivian is the more likely explanation.
My understanding is that Referral Codes work only for R1 Shop purchases, not for Configuration or for Demo.
Very best wishes!
Exactly, @Electrified Outdoors!
At our 2024-02-16 R1S pickup, we needed snow tire installation to go smoothly at the Costco nearest to the Service Center. It did not go smoothly! After prior telephone assurances that they could install Costco/Michelin winter tires, the staff decided they...
I'm pretty sure that's NOT working as designed, @beardley. That would be very frustrating for me.
Call (855) RIVIAN-5 to get started with this.
If over-the-phone troubleshooting doesn't fix it, request a Service appointment.
Very best wishes!
Many of my friends spontaneously criticize the Cybertruck's appearance. I don't think I've ever signaled them that this is OK with me. They just start that conversation all on their own as part of the "How do you like your Rivian?" discussion.
I'm glad we don't all think alike. I don't want...
I've seen a "Use Other Spaces First" on some disabled charging spaces, changing them from disabled-only to disabled-preferred.
I think it might have been in Oregon, but I'm not sure. I don't think it was in Washington.
Best wishes!
My wife notes that Rivians are pleasant curiosities here in the rural Northwest.
We could get a bad reputation if we purchased a less expensive Cadillac EV. But not with a more expensive Rivian.
People at least give the "benefit of the doubt" that Rivians are purchased for their function and...
