Thank you for this post and all the details! I went to the service center yesterday with this "play" issue between acceleration and deceleration and was told it was normal! 🤷🏻♂️
Just got the fob back from service - it seems the battery ran out again. Brand new battery took just 3 months to drain with minimal use of the fob - quite worrying. Will ask for replacement if it happens again that quickly.
It is sad that they're still shipping with such reckelss abandon. I may have changed my decision to purchase if I'd known I'd get a damaged product.
Agreed, the build quality seems pretty good, although I'm not sure how the damaged area will hold up over time w.r.t. rust.
Let me try rebooting like @LivingInKaos suggested, and if that doesn't work I'll file a ticket. I have a mobile appointment coming up anyway, hopefully they can add this task if the reboot doesn't work.
Will keep you guys posted.
No - since the battery was low at delivery, the Rivian delivery rep gave me a new battery to replace when needed. Good to know for the next replacement though. Which one do you use?
It does have a green bar on it. When I got the car ~45 days ago, it showed low battery so the delivery guy gave me an extra battery which I had to put in a couple of days later. Was working fine at the time.
Completely agree with OP. While I love the R1S, the Rivian one-pedal experience is sub-par to any other EV I've driven, and this is my 5th brand of EV ownership. The whole dead zone bit is ridiculous - what they should really have is a super-linear increase in acceleration starting _very_ small...
I have a key fob that I just replaced the battery on. It worked after having the battery replaced, and then I didn't use it for several days. Now it won't work no matter what I click.
I checked both the R1S screen and the app and it still shows the key fob under my name. The app also shows that...
Wanted to briefly comment on my purchase and installation experience.
The purchase process was pretty smooth (used the discount code on the website at the time) and I got a call from Adam (the owner of GOAT Fabrication) as soon as I made the order since I had asked a question on email that he...
We have a Chargepoint home flex that we've used with the Bolt, Model 3 and Rivian. Works as advertised. Occasionally there will be a "Failed to reach the charger" message from the app (and there are no physical buttons so it can be super frustrating) but retrying works.
There's a couple of...
If you can align the car seat in the 2nd row to be slightly towards the driver side, you should be able to fold the 2nd row single seat on the passenger side. I put my forward facing toddler seat on the passenger side and am able to fold the driver side for 3rd row access.
I also didn't want the car sooner since my previous car's lease ends later this month, so it is possible they assigned me one that got shipped in a later batch. Not complaining - outside of a couple of super minor alignment issues and a roof bar whistle at a specific speed the car is great!
Using ML to control traction is a very interesting idea. It would, however, take time and not be very easy to implement as there are a lot of moving parts:
- Getting data for various scenarios/conditions
- Finding compute (presumably this could be whatever driver+ runs on)
- Running the model...
