I have a leased car that I return end of March. So as to accommodate for any last minute delays or issues, I'm trying to time my R1S delivery so that it happens early March (I'd rather not pay double insurance for too long).

What kind of delivery timelines are people seeing these days for the R1S? Is there any difference between timelines for performance-dual vs quad? I'm in CA if that matters. I'm currently assuming a 4-week timeline and planning to lock in the config in the first week of Feb.

Any thoughts on the updates-coming-march-2024 threads - would you try for delivery end of March/early April given those? I need the R1S before mid-April at the latest for a long trip with 6 people.

For those that took delivery in the last few weeks, please could you post:
Location (if comfortable with sharing, state is also OK)
Config (dual/perf-dual/quad, large/max, 20"/21"/22", etc.)
Order locked date
Delivery taken date

Kids are already excited and planning the road trip! :)

I ordered from the shop last week and my current timeline is 4-6 weeks until delivery. I’m also in California.

Wow even for something already in the shop? That's good to know! (do you know if it is at the factory atm?)

Here’s my timeline of events which should hopefully be helpful:

I put in my shop order on 1/19 and received my VIN and was able to do 7 out of the 8 steps. My guide told me on 1/22 that my R1S was still at the factory and it’d take 4-6 weeks for it to be ready since it’d be transported via rail. Yesterday (1/23) I my guide told me that my R1S left the factory.

A friend of mine who’s also in California ended up doing the same thing around the same time and they are also expecting 4-6 weeks after ordering from the shop.

This is very helpful! Would appreciate if you could post if/when you get more news.

Similar timeline for me. Only bummer is that the shop was advertising 1-2 weeks. By the time I take delivery (2/13) it'll be more like 5 weeks.

Same feeling here. We were expecting to pick up the R1S really soon given the 1-2 week estimate in the shop.

By the way, all I’ve heard is mid-Feb. Did your guide or customer service provide you with the 2/13 delivery date?

I could've sworn there was a delivery post here with pretty pictures - did that get deleted? I was going to reply but typing on mobile is too tiring.

Did you pick up at the SJ service center? How was your experience?

I'm set up for next weekend, will post how it goes!

Haha! You’re correct. I ended up deleting since I meant to post it to a different thread.

I did pick it up at the San Jose service center. Super quick and easy. Had to wait ~15min for them to finish getting the car ready. Did a look around the car to note two small minor door alignment issues then went through the whole orientation inside the R1S.

So far so good though! Excited for you to pick yours up next week! Looking forward to seeing how your experience goes.

Congratulations! Funny that I'll have the exact same combo (Model 3 + R1S) after I take delivery next weekend!

Please could you post pictures of the misalignment (so I know what to keep an eye out for)? Also, was there a delivery checklist that you followed?

There really doesnt seem to be rhyme nor reason. We have seen as little as 5 days, and as long as 9 weeks (and for some 3 years... But thats another reason entirely!).

Mine went from rolling off the assembly line on December 21st, to in my driveway January 13th.. So 23 days. So just a touch over 3 weeks... To go thru OEM QC, Transport, SC QC and detail, to delivery. Thats quick for all that was done. But one from the shop, being already built should, in theory, be quicker... but..

As you saw, 5 weeks later....
