  1. Factory 22" Wheels on R1T Rivian - finally a real life look

My only reservation with the Rivian 22" wheels is that they are not forged. As a result, they are heavier than they need to be and not as strong. Hopefully, there will be some aftermarket options coming out that are reasonably priced.
  2. Test drive impressions from Tesla owner

I had been driving my Model S before my Rivian R1T First Mile, so that is where my mind was in doing the comparison. Over the weekend I've been driving my 2020 Navigator L -- about the same length, lighter (but only by 15 - 20%). My first reaction was the "R1T does NOT drive like a truck." For...
  3. Center Console/Organizer

Appreciate kylealden posting the link to Stage22. Nothing like well made gear. Of course if you go to the site you just might end up spending more than you expected... One miss by Rivian was not having some discrete, secure storage. The Model S glove box that opens via screen command where you...
  4. Test drive impressions from Tesla owner

Tough call, if you only could have the S or R1T. Boils down to what you use if for. Commuting, inter-city travel, the S. Hauling gear, outdoor activities, the R1T. Taking one for a fun drive - probably the S. The instant response, high performance tires and AutoPilot would make the difference...
  5. Test drive impressions from Tesla owner

The S is quieter on all season tires. A little closer on the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, but still quieter. I was struck by how quiet the R1T is for a truck. This was on the 22" tires. I suspect you have more tire noise with the 20" all terrain.
  6. Test drive impressions from Tesla owner

The R1T has two regen settings, Standard and High. It felt like High was more aggressive than the newest Model S regen. Standard was a little less v. the Model S. I preferred driving in Standard. Once you get used to driving the R1T, High might be just as natural. Both settings allow effective...
  7. Test drive impressions from Tesla owner

Also a Tesla owner - 2021 Model S Long Range. Just took a test drive in the R1T equipped with the 22" wheels. 1. Sound System - Very impressed with the Meridian. At least on par with the Model S, perhaps a richer sound in the R1T. 2. Ground Clearance - My pet concern about the Model S is the...
  8. Truck is bricked! Update FIXED! [12v battery trickle module software issue]

12V battery problems are not that unusual in ICE vehicles. My 2020 Navigator has gone through 3 batteries. The last time they finally found the parasitic drain that was causing the problem. The 12V is an anachronism in an EV, as Spiffster notes there needs to be a better solution.
  9. Could use help with options!

One point on the wheels - the 21" and 22" are not forged. That means they are heavier and not as strong as the 20". I'm equipping my R1T with the 20". I'll look to the aftermarket (once R1T wheels are available) for a set of rims (20" or 22") to go with a sport / street tire for warm weather...
  10. **HELP** Color Choice Issue

Remembering that advice is worth what you pay for it... White is the most practical. El Cap is an impressive shade of gray, but does not stand out. Blue and Red will make a statement. Check out the Red Canyon page. Like other Rivian colors, it really travels across different lighting. The photos...
  11. RED CANYON Rivian Photos

I normally go with white, gray, silver or black. My last red choice was an early '80's Isuzu Trooper -- great truck, manual transmission, incredible in snow and off-road. Maybe that's part of the reason I'm set for Red Canyon. For something as distinctive as the R1T you need to go with a...
  12. RED CANYON Rivian Photos

I scrolled through the delivered R1T's listed at Delivered Rivians Owners List and Stats [Enter Yours]! -- there is only one Red Canyon listed. Is our color not as available for delivery or is it not as popular? I don't think the images on Rivian's website help.
  13. R1 issues for new owners

Great effort! Having a consolidated list is a really useful tool, and is essential when you are working with the order online business model where you can't inspect your truck in advance, or choose it off a dealer's lot. I took delivery of my Tesla Model S in November 2021 and used the...
  14. Washington DC Area Test Drives Happening

I just received my First Mile Invite. Glad they fit me in, even though I am waiting for the Max Pack.
  15. Matte Black Stealth PPF Rivian R1T Launch Edition

Very impressive. I'd go with it if I didn't have that treatment on my Model S! My first choice now is Canyon Red. I'll have to see what that looks like in Xpel Stealth.
  16. My R1T Arrived!!! (& PPF?)

You'll be a less likely target of traffic enforcement in LA Silver over Canyon Red.
  17. My R1T Arrived!!! (& PPF?)

Beautiful R1T! I'm still finalizing my color choice - down to LA Silver or Canyon Red. I will go with PPF. Probably Xpel, I may do the thicker Xpel in high impact areas (front, places where tires throw up rocks, etc.).
  18. My ultimate water tight / leak test (including tonneau) revealed one major flaw

I don't think the charge port in the Model S is capacitive. It requires physical pressure on the charge port door (or use of the button on the charger handle or the car's controls via the touch screen).
  19. Rivian Wheels

One thing to consider when looking at cost is the "free" set of 21" wheels / tires you give up when you choose an optional package. Pre 3/1 pricing, the 20" AT's cost $1800. The true cost is $1800 plus the value of the 21" wheels / tires. For my Tesla Model S, in 20/20 hindsight, I would have...
  20. Sneak peek Xpel Stealth PPF Wrapped Launch Green R1T

Very cool. My configuration is currently for Red Canyon and I am seriously considering Xpel Stealth. I have it on my Solid Black Tesla Model S and it really changes the look. Hope you'll post a full set of photos when completed.
