I had thought from the beginning of the R1S they should have offered a full wheelbase (ala Suburban) version. They could also offer the shorter wheelbase (ala Tahoe) and let the consumers decide which they prefer. It's not too late and I wouldn't be surprised to see them offer a long...
Thanks, Some good information in the Reddit that I wasn't aware of. Guess like any FWD, just plan on eating front tires much more often using Conserve.
From the description of the issue, it would seem that having Conserve mode use only the rear powertrain would be an obvious solution. I have always wondered why they chose to switch to front wheel drive in Conserve mode. Having owned several FWD cars, they would always chew up front tires...
If the boot is not torn, then it may just be a loose clamp band on the outboard end of the boot. Other than having lost some grease, it would just need a new band clamp. Much easier than replacing the half shaft.
In my experience on other vehicles, when the CV joints fail, they are most noticeable when the tires are turned to the max to put the most angle on the joint. If it gets worse when you turn the wheels a lot, it is most likely a CV joint on one of the axle half shafts. Do it with care, I had...
If the news reports are correct that Tesla has made there charging system open sourced, then it will allow all other charging systems to adopt the NACS plug. In future you would never have to use the Tesla Supercharger system. Being able to use it would sure be a nice feature to have. More...
Not sure about an independent body, but it would be a huge advantage if all North American vehicles would charge with the same system. Of the two NACS seems to be the most convenient solution. I'm also not sure if just changing the charging plug would eliminate all of the charging problems...
You are currently correct. I have been looking for one too. As the CCS chargers go away as more vehicles go to NACS it won't matter as there is already a way for Tesla or NASC to charge at CCS chargers. I'm looking downstream as if the entire north American system moves to NACS.
As more and more vehicles switch to the NACS standard, the current CCS suppliers EA, EVGo and others will have to also switch to offering NACS charging which would ultimately create competition with Tesla Supercharging. It's available now with a CCS to Tesla adapter. With that, most of the...
