oh I totally agree it is an incredible piece of machinery. Ridiculously capable. I do apologize for using the word hate; I try not to do that.
My gripes are largely ergonomic/human factor-type gripes. I don't like the experience. It is a big departure from my decades of driving experience.
I...
>>> would you buy R1T again as of 3/25/2024?
I would not buy again but I'll keep it until something with similar utility comes around.
I have beef with the entire driver experience. The placement of controls on stalks is not intuitive and not simple, vehicle access was poorly re-imagined and...
Still want CarPlay. In fact this makes me want it more.
“take over” … hardly.
I would give CarPlay access to my cars data in a heartbeat, like with a token, the same way we can generate a token and let other software access the car’s data.
From cold-start, this is my experience. But, when driving anywhere I can't get that level of heat, or temp consistency, and the cabin temp will eventually chill, especially the footwells.
I can toggle AUTO or manually adjust the fan and, like, there is no substantial difference in the volume...
No idea, but I would pay a lot of money for removable rear seats, large flat & tall cargo area, lower tailgate, no carpet.
... or maybe I should convert my Honda Element to a BEV.
I was super pleased (and perplexed) to see a RAN stations in “no where” Waynesboro and Front Royal, Virginia.
it didn’t make a lot of sense until I saw a blog post about the RAN coverage of the entire blue ridge parkway.
Not OP but I'm quite rural and cell coverage is an issue. And, of course, the adventure crowd goes where no cell coverage exists.
Spotify does a decent job of buffering and getting me through no/low cell coverage areas as long as I don't search or change music in low/no coverage area, which...
They were too busy reinventing a key fob with ambiguous orientation and impossible-to-see black on black buttons.
I like the idea of an adhesive replica plates but can't bring myself to spend any more money on this topic.
Nice. I wanted a -55 Prestige but the range drops too much with the 21” wheels, which seems pervasive in the inventory. So I guess I’m going to settle on a sportback with 20” wheels where the range is like 290ish but I’ll have to order it.
I like the R1S a lot but I’m looking forward to the...
I’ve had phantom braking happen when using adaptive cruise on backroads. My speculation is that the car is “seeing” a mailbox post or a tree or something.
interestingly, I found a section of road in which it has repeated this behavior twice. My next time through I will get a dash cam clip and...
I'm certain the Rivian HVAC programmer has "slot machine developer" on his/her resume because using climate control is a gamble. These HVAC controls are another over-engineered / reimagined functionality gone bad.
Yesterday night, like 9pm, I jump in a cold car, it was 34°F outside, cabin temp...
It is ridiculously frustrating that Rivian gave zero fks about front mounting a license plate.
I've tried 3 different mounts and they are either visible in the camera or blocking a sensor, at best the blocking of a sensor is inconsistent.
I'm also [always] open to the possibility that I'm an...
Thanks for mentioning this because I wasn't motivated to report it but now I will.
This is definitely a thing. Been happening in our drive since day one.
If I use the fob, load up my hands with bags, get to the back of the R1S and the door isn't open. Finally tested it with the fob while...
I used an outlet tester on the 110v receptacle in the cargo area and it has an open ground.
Is this 'normal' for an outlet in a vehicle?
I did search for this topic and didn't see it here, so apologies if I missed it.
As an aside, I do not recommend this particular tester because it...
