Motor Trend article where 2024 R1T Gen 2 tri-motor is pulling against a Tesla Cybertruck beast tri-motor. Spoiler, no clear winner on two pulls but Rivian is declared the winner of both pulls and the event...
So thinking about the impact of EV tax credit in real terms. Rivian sells about 50k vehicles per year of which ~10,000 are commercial EDVs. That leaves ~40,000 R1T and R1S consumer retail sales per year of which some portion don't qualify for the EV tax credit due to price caps.
Question...
Don, the whole subject is radioactive click bait for political discourse, rules notwithstanding. Sometimes more voyeurism and less participation will help in understating more sides to a discussion.
Be cool, be okay with it.
It’s also more than a little disingenuous to Hummer, DeLorean, Fisker and the hundred others that are out there in the sales struggle bus. I’m sure most would happily trade place with Rivian to get their sales, engineering and even this forums engagement participation...
Don’t forget the company has more than the R1 product line. They have EDVs that sell quite well and apparently are accelerating with existing and emerging customers.
EV credits going away means those incumbent suppliers need to pull other levers. Think more features, maybe R1X or lower...

"We are familiar with the Enduro three-in-one unit from the Dual-Motor configuration but the new Ascent motor comprises two motors into one drive unit casing. There are two variants of the new Ascent motor, a large unit...
I saw that too. What I read into it a bit further is the Ascent motor is not supply chain constrained. Just the Enduro motors. And with both DM/TM and EDV wanting Enduros that ARE supply constrained, they are making at least some portion of these constrained vehicles (~3k of them) waiting for...
Here is a helpful source of energy generation and consumption. This is a national pic but it is also available by state and other nations.

It is not just Gotion in Michigan. There is a similar problem with a proposed (and currently approved) Gotion plant in Manteno, IL

Actually, it is 1 in 3 demand AA/CP but 98% use AA/CP if they have it.
Those other car mfgs with struggling sales, are they struggling BECAUSE they had AA/CP or a struggling LESS because at least they have AA/CP?
Can we make a statement that AA/CP helps or hurts a vehicle purchase?
We...
Ugh, I'm not saying users or even myself 'Need' AA/CP. We know statistically 70% of new vehicles sold today have Satellite radio. 80% have AA/CP. Rivian has declared that AA/CP is not a thing but they have committed to Satellite radio. Why alienate the choice even if users of Rivian choose...
So, just a question here: what happens when the JV delivers AA/CP to Scout Motors? Where will Wasyym team be standing then?
For a company to struggle with sales yet firmly decide against a feature yet pour resources to copy this very AA/CP integrations poorly into their UI, seems misguided...
