I checked this out at the first mile event. They use the same exact latch mechanism as the doors. So just as secure plus no glass, although you can also access the tunnel through the little pass through from behind the armrest in the rear seats.
There are a few non-Tesla L2 chargers in Yosemite and they are Free! So probably they do want it to be like the coffee shop model to make it free for customers.
Spotted in Palo Alto yesterday. My first real life sighting. The yellow is definitely a deli-mustard tint rather than bright yellow. It looks pretty great.
I love the stance of the vehicle. Itās pretty big but I passed some F150s and a GMC Sierra right after seeing the R1T and those trucks...
Iāve tested this with my 7kw generator and a Tesla model Y For a few minutes. The Tesla mobile adapter was plugged straight into the generator. The car takes a charge but I did notice some surging. The Y will start taking charge at 5-6 kW for about a minute or so and then it pauses and drops to...
Yea Iāve heard that but never really noticed it. It would be interesting to see actual data, but of course Iām too lazy to run the experiment. From what Iāve seen, the first order factors that affect range are wind resistance (changing it by hanging stuff off your car or towing things)...
Agree, and Iāll add one additional thing. Leaving your car running to run the AC uses a fair amount of energy (gas) because of all the energy wasted by the ICE. With an EV, in my experience running the AC for an hour or so doesnāt really run the battery down that much because you are only...
As another Tesla owner excited to add a Rivian to the lineup, I can also say that the cabin pre-heat / pre-cool and option to keep climate on while shopping are some of my favorite features of the Tesla. Hope Rivian comes out with similar before too long if not at launch.
The BMS for heating and cooling the battery is not just a simple plug a couple wires in thing. If the cooling involves glycol youād have to properly hook up and fill the glycol system.
[edit] sorry - nevermind. I see no liquid cooling in the Rivian packs.
The full battery pack weighs something like 1500 lbs. So wouldnāt an auxiliary pack have to weigh something like 500 lbs to be meaningful? I canāt see how this idea is practical for one-off trips as few of us have forklifts in our garages.
Well, yea if the technology is broken then stick with buttons. With today's technology they can make it work well, with responsiveness like video games.
Personally, I'd like to see full touchscreen interfaces except for essentials like driving controls, smartly designed and improved with customer feedback over time. It's 2020, time to ditch the buttons. :)
