I would guess the door handles being out simply means the car is unlocked. The video you shared could have been shot shortly after people got into the car, and never got up to a high enough speed for auto lock to trigger. Show me a video or picture where the R1T is moving above like 20kph with...
Wow, those quite a bit of an upsell! Up to $30/month! They're clearly looking to make that a source of significant income. I certainly wouldn't pay that much for what little it offers.
Incentives: None that I know of. Far too expensive of a vehicle to qualify for any federal or provincial programs that I've found. I'm SUPER jealous of that $7500 USD American federal tax credit!
Pricing: I preordered early and was charged $1000 USD, so the configurator shows me all USD...
Throwing bikes in the bed is one reason why I'm going with the R1T over R1S. My 4runner with a North Shore rack isn't bad, but it could be even easier!
I'm not sure I'd put much faith in any of the prototype vehicles being representative of production. Rivian has changed quite a lot since then, some small things (eg. one less steering wheel stalk, flip-out-hook on the back of the seat), and larger things (eg. available number of seats in the...
I was wrong :) 10k option in the configurator. I think that's fair, still just sad it won't be available for some time, but I guess there's the benefit of seeing others iron out the bugs. I'm disappointed there's no perk like free wheel upgrades for us that want the large battery and are willing...
I called it back in Oct: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/rivian-r1t-to-participate-in-the-2020-rebelle-rally-update-6th-place-finish.678/page-3#post-11134
I think either a) design isn't ready b) tech isn't ready, or c) supply issues.
I'm calling it now, the 300 miles of claimed...
Ditto here. I'm hoping that many people go this route and they run out of 135kWh customers and start the 180kWh deliveries early. The forum poll had 61.5% of people asking for the 400 mile range, but I suppose 40% of 50k preorders is quite a lot of cars to make in the first 6 months, so maybe...
A few more observations that haven't been mentioned yet:
The crossbar ports/tie-down locations aren't present on the bed floor anymore:
DCFC at 200kW for "sustained periods":
R1T wheels (21 inch rims are a new design):
vs R1S wheels (the 20 inch are different, maybe these aren't...
I'm still half way listening this this, but great so far! Emme mentioned the cables hanging underneath the truck and also complained about them. The engineers assured her they would be gone in the final version.
Would be super neat if there was an IR camera in the suite of sensors. Could be very handy for country roads at dusk/night time to avoid hitting wildlife. Will all the self-driving hardware, it would be pretty easy to do some simple image recognition on top of that too and have an alarm when...
And here's the Pirelli press release: https://press.pirelli.com/pirelli-tires-tailor-made-for-rivian-deliver-silence-on-board-and-low-rolling-resistance/
Cold weather has reminded me how much I use my windshield wiper defrosters on my 4runner. Hopefully this comes on the R1T. In an EV where excess heat isn't available for free, I'd think it would be an especially nice feature.
Hopefully the phone number is step 0 in the configurator going live soon :) I'm assuming they'll want to be able to have reservation holders have their questions answered before committing.
