Any owners have thoughts on the very poor snow performance test results here?
I'm sure the testing wasn't entirely scientific, but that significant a difference is crazy.
What is your reported battery capacity? Me and others have noticed this has dropped since the update (and seems to fluctuate a bit now), and it's inversely related to the reported SOC. Maybe that's related and messing with vampire drain numbers.
My VD is down slightly, from 1.8 to 1.6kWh per 24...
I'm still waiting for the update. Is it possible to connect to a wifi network and use the Chromecast feature? My phone's reception and speed seems to be much faster than the Rivian's, and I'm hoping to be able to just tether off of that.
This is a great one to call out. Of course it depends on what you do in the app, but simply opening it it seems to only access cloud services, just like ElectraFi or similar, which have zero impact to your vehicle sleep state.
I can't see Electrify America stations from the Canadian app, so I assume the inverse is also true.
Electrify Canada stations that I've seen all have normal CC readers, though I've heard reports the readers don't work sometimes, making the app a necessity.
A tip for anyone visiting BC, the BC...
All the fanboy whiners that couldn't take some criticism have an apology to make ?
Kyle, please complain about your gen 1 some more. I'd love for some charging improvements there too! (Though I will say I'm actually impressed how great Rivian has been on keeping gen 1 features coming)
They seem generally pretty busy. I purchased an adapter from them a week ago, and it hasn't shipped (and I'm in Canada).
There's also the issue of Canada Post being on strike for the last month or so, and other shipping companies overwhelmed, plus BFCM, plus holidays....I'm going to cut them...
"allege" being the key word ;)
Gen 1 trip computer estimates seem to be conservative (accurate on highway drives!), while Gen 2 EPA ratings have very suspicious gains. I'd be really curious about some side-by-side gen 1 vs gen 2 testing about actual real-world efficiency gains @OutofSpecKyle
I actually agree with you, I'd be surprised if there were any 100% perfect vehicles on delivery. I think just some people have higher attention to detail than others and/or don't care about misaligned panels or straight steering wheels.
Building on this: Would Rivian consider bringing in (more) community help to beta test releases? It could even be an application-based role, not totally open (since the word "beta" has lost it's meaning to the general public).
Thanks for the report and photos @j.w.s !
Could you measure and share the height of your road bike handlebars? I'm trying to figure out of my 800mm wide MTB bars will clear before purchasing, and hoping they will be above the R1S roof line.

With 2024.39.1, as documented in the changelog, I have observed that the vehicle indeed seems to sleep very quickly after being woken up by PaaK proximity (which happens even if unlock at home is disabled, and even if the phone has proximity unlock permanently disabled). This is nice to see...
What Hyundai did with the Ioniq 5 is disable one pedal driving whenever you go into reverse, and force a automatic ICE creep behavior. Personally I actually find it annoying that it changes modes between drive and reverse, but I'm guessing they did it for safety reasons; this way the driver's...
When pricing is significantly higher than the US and there's no incentives for the older models, and no leasing, many Canadians I'm sure are waiting for the 2025 models.
The 2025s ARE trickling in now. I heard from a Rivian employee the early September halt in inventory was because they messed...
