This is what some call the thermal management system. Rivian touts theirs all the time. However, Rivian's is not nearly as cool. It's completely invisible to your average pedestrian.
My thought is they'll do lots of small group sessions in the top 10-20 markets. This would allow them to introduce the car to LE order holders and provide a test drive. I do wonder what they will do to show off all the color options given they won't have enough vehicles to just stock for test...
Dear Rivian :
I will not sign on the dotted line to purchase this wonderful truck until you allow me to complete a Tank Turn in the field behind my house. I would also like to drive it 97mph in the snow but that is negotiable. I promise to wear a mask and it's your choice if my guide accompanies...
In general, this is good news. I would have like to see something in the 75-80% range. But I do have to give them credit overall. They offer the 70% battery for up to 175K miles or 8 years, the first of which is better than any other EV warranty of which I'm aware (Tesla also at 8 years, but not...
Agreed and definitely taken with a heart attack inducing handful of salt. And don't get me wrong, I'm all for the inserts. I'll be removing them anytime I'm not on a road trip, but I'd still rather they be provided.
Well, here's some more information from a chat (below) that states this will only be available on the 21" wheels. That seems real to me as I haven't seen any 20" wheels with inserts on the pre-production vehicles since 9/2020.
I didn't realize these would be available for the 20" AT wheels (or the 22" AS) and I haven't seen them in any of the pilot pre-production vehicle photos recently. Quite possible I've just missed it. Where is this photo from?
Pretty sure car test drives have been Covid safe (and permitted in most states) for some time now. I live in MD which has been relatively strict with respect to pandemic safety requirements and car test drives for individuals have been ok ever since last summer. I test drove an ipace back in...
As for number 9, it's pretty obvious that this is not a negative. The R1T is a big teddy bear and RJ wants you to give it a hug every time you load up the groceries. ? In any case, after all the anxiety and waiting we have suffered to get some information on the Rivians, just walking up to the...
I imagine they'll have to offer cross bars and, gasp, steps or tubes of some sort. Right? Maybe?
But don't worry, your guide will get you information on that very soon.
If there are 8 R1S that have come off the pilot line since Jan 29, there must be about 30-50 R1Ts out there since first pilots were late August (please read that with healthy skepticism). That seems like just enough vehicles to start some community test drives. At least that must be right around...
By the transitive property, this should still work, right???
I'm of the opinion that this situation warrants cautious optimism. I don't think, given the company's approach in the past, that they would have doubled down on the June delivery date in late Feb unless they were nearly certain they...
Here's a new, cool/positive feature I hadn't seen before. Not everything is negative. I don't know if it's real or production intent, but it would be convenient.
My view is that Rivian has actually done a pretty good job with customer engagement. Think about how much more we know about the...
It's a great looking car. I'm a fan of the retro styling. It's shape is amazingly similar to the I-Pace. Same wheelbase and width with length and height within 2 inches. It has that same sloping hatch / rear end. Two very different, but appealing styles. I like them both, just not as much as...
I just noticed how few Forest Green selections there were - only 5.5%. Considering how nice that color looks (and that it's been on the original R1S prototype around for the last 2.5 yrs), I would have expected more of them. Personally, I'd love if they just consolidated the two greens and...
Take a look at the summary of configurations provided by users to another forum here. What's interesting in my view is the consistency over time of the R1T to R1S ratio (~60:40) and the launch edition to non LE ratio (~80:20).
There are definitely some doubles in there but it's a list of over...
Don't think I've seen this yet on the forum but thought folks might be interested. Here are the details on interior specs (per email from Rivian):

Fair enough. I can't argue that this leaves leaves some frustration and disappointment. My reaction was to the host of comments here expressing that this news is generally underwhelming and underdelivering, which is not yours. My bad.
The company is just delaying the release of the 180kWh pack, it's not underdelivering on it's product. There seems to be something lost here by those who expected the 180kWh pack option and suddenly turned sour at the idea of having to wait 6 more months. Apparently, that's justification to...
