I'm not so worried about the tailgate trim getting marred - it's a truck. But it would be nice if there were a better way to get a purchase on the tailgate. The trim at the top is contoured to the same line as the tailgate itself. Looks nice and may be aerodynamic, but as others have said, it...
I wish Rivian also used induction in the rear. This would eliminate the need for a motor disconnect and allow us to effectively run in sport mode all the time without a range penalty.
A byproduct of a refrigerator is heat, so any enclosed area (like a covered pickup bed) will make it progressively more difficult to keep the interior of a refrigerator cool as the refrigerator heats up the space and increases the temperature delta between hot and cold. This in turn makes the...
Probably best to turn the original dryer receptacle into a junction box and pretend like it's not actually there. If the dryer's receptacle is within reach of the truck, you can run a manual switch to flip back and forth between the dryer and EVSE...
It is, at least in VA. I believe other states have, or are soon adopting similar. The penalty actually applies to any vehicle which is "fuel efficient." VA says is anything over 25 mpg is fuel efficient (ha):

Nice. Small updates, but it's nice that they're adding more Spotify features. DJ isn't the best feature, but it's better than nothing. Hopefully they allow more selections from the home screen to be selected.
This update will also be nice, if it is what I think it is:
Your driver profile...
Still have an adapter to manage and purchase. UWC is a small premium for many features that offer convenience, power sharing, and reduced expansion costs.
I've had the driver's gear tunnel door fall open on its own a couple times while parked. Rivian couldn't replicate the problem when I had it in for service. This only happened in the winter though with no random openings since spring. Not the same as a window, but I suspect it's body...
IMO it's way, way easier to use the UWC with the built-in adapter, especially if you're charging different EVs. I keep my adapter with the Tesla UMC in the frunk for traveling.
Sucks that they jacked up the price by almost 20%, but this is still the best EVSE out there for most use cases.
Just printed one out in Overture TPU for my '23. Was a quick install and seems to do the job - just like you see in the video. I guess you can update the description to say that it works with all R1s. Thanks for sharing!
Yes, when you get service it is generally pretty good. The problem is when you need to take the truck in for non-critical items. The wait time is multiple months. Good to know that the 12v can be done via mobile. I had Tesla mobile service do the battery on my Model S a few years ago and it...
5-6 years ago it used to make more sense to have a receptacle. That was before the GFCI breaker requirement, the need for a more expensive EVSE-rated receptacle, the cost of wiring went up, the cost of EVSEs went down, and the desire to have multiple EVSEs in a single home was more popular...
Found this thread when trying to find the source of my flashlight's rattle. Did you post this to Printables? I'd like to give it a try even though I have a gen1.
IMO, adding a sub/amp to the existing setup would be the best option. The existing sub enclosure is pretty small and limited in what drivers you can use. There's nothing particularly "wrong" about the stock sub other than it's lack of output. Some people have placed a sub in the driver's side...
I replaced my self-installed 14-50 with a Tesla UWC, but I had a fair amount of extra wire in the wall. That's an unlikely situation with a pro doing the job and you may be too short to reach where the UWC will go without turning the 14-50 location into a junction box where you extend the...
Not sure how long it's been there, but probably over a year. It's basically at the intersection of I-70 and I-76. Much further east than the roads between Buffalo and Louisville.
Just like before, if the station has better amenities compared to others or it otherwise lines up as a good location to charge, I'll stop at a RAN station. I use them so infrequently. Breezewood, PA is still a good one for my trips to Western NY, and I stopped at one in Front Royal this past...
The update seems pretty much the same as the old version to me. I think it could be better if accessing the climate controls didn't require scrolling and tapping to go to a different screen. The main screen has a picture of a truck and range estimate that takes up 100% of the real estate and...
