Yes, this is the way. Daisy-chaining the UWCs is also super convenient and saves a lot of hassle and cost to wiring back to the panel for a separate circuit. I'm even considering putting in a 3rd UWC just so I can easily charge from any parking spot.
Only downside I've found is in damp...
Though I will unlikely ever go to the Glen Burnie SC, it's bound to take some of the load off the Gaithersburg SC. Even better when Sterling is open, though I'd like it even more if I didn't have to ever go back.
I'd expect battery cost to be north of $30k. Replacing the battery on an 85kwh Model S was in the $20k range. New batteries have gotten less expensive, but older ones are still pricey.
I'm not sure how serviceable the R1T battery is from a labor perspective. The Model S battery replacement...
Looks a lot like my old receptacle, but yours was a nicer Hubbell.
This happened after over 2 years of use charging at 40A. I have a couple of Tesla UWCs now. Also good advice to periodically check the breaker to see if it's getting hot.
Good advice here already about the modes and getting the most range. If you haven't already planned your route and charging stops using ABRP, give it a try. I never do an EV roadtrip without it.
I thought they were pretty fair on the review. I've watched several other videos from them and I didn't think they were overly negative. They didn't come off as EV haters. Looks like they had it for a while and took it through typical suburban and twisty mountain roads - places where most...
Mine shows manufacturer and model as Rivian. What does the MAC address start with? Mine starts with 20:ba:36. I think Rivian also has 70:69:79, 54:64:de, and 54:f8:2a, among others, probably.
What are you talking about? Lightnings are all over the place now. There are 31 available within 20 miles of me. A friend of mine walked in and bought one just a few weeks ago.
My truck was drivable before I took it to the body shop, but in order to assess the damage (rear quarter) they had to tear it down.
Not only are parts slow to arrive, but they often arrive damaged. The large rear unibody panel needed to fix my truck has been ordered twice, and both times it...
That seems rather steep. FWIW, the aero covers on a Model 3 increase range by 3%. That's notable, but I'd be curious to know how that efficiency change translates into overall drag.
It sounds like you're looking for someone to say something, but they're not saying it, so you're just making up this imaginary person's counter argument as you go along. You don't need me here to do that though.
Having a working charger is a requirement, so once a station has established that...
At 63 cents/kwh, it costs about 29 cents a mile to drive an R1T down the road.
At $4.00/gallon (more than the national average for premium gasoline), you can drive a vehicle that gets 14 mpg and it's about the same price per mile. A new Raptor gets 16mpg combined. If you drive a slightly more...
I've had connectivity issues with the app, PaaK, and even the fob as well.. This has been present since I took delivery in June of 2024: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/from-sleep-to-coma.37751
I haven't really had a chance to test the fix deployed in .51 thoroughly since the truck...
They just changed to 18" wheels so the trickle down technology from racing to street would be more relevant. They used small wheels before to limit the brake size. Smaller wheels are lighter, all other things equal.
Large wheels allow you to run larger brakes, which are needed to slow down...
A single EVSE with two outputs sounds nice, but having two EVSEs placed where you need them would be better. I'd recommend a couple of Tesla UWCs. They can share the same circuit.
No, you won't damage the suspension, but you'll also only have about 10 inches total in length. This will technically fit, but it may be a hassle getting around the truck if the door is closed. You'll likely want some kind of parking aid (tennis ball, laser, tire stop, etc.) to position the...
I like Wash Wax All. Faster than getting out the hose and bucket or even pressure washer and then drying the truck. No water spots since you're not actually washing the vehicle. If your truck fits in your garage it's great to do in the dead of winter or summer, or even if it's raining...
