Same. Anything on the top of the driver dash screen including my current speed I cannot see unless I bend down to peek under the top of the steering wheel. I've seen other members comment the same. Hopefully a future OTA update will allow us to customize the layout more.

For a 12' kayak, I would think a bed extender like the one shown in this post is what you would need. If you have the kayak mounts on top of the cab it would likely work pretty well.

I think a lot of owners are misdiagnosing the short period of time it takes the truck to wake up from its sleep state and unlock as being unresponsive or unreliable. Once the car is awake there is no delay to lock or unlock with the fob.
