50k OTD in current pricing and rebate vs Rivian’s 105k OTD. While not same use case, for many, it achieves the same work at 1/2 the cost. 50k is a lot to not have sitting in investments.
I want a slightly larger cargo capacity - however, I rarely need more than what MY offers. I would like to...
I don’t mind plastic interior. It works, easy to clean, and I don’t really see it when I’m texting and driving. 3rd row is unnecessary for me - just want the added cargo space over our current MY
When Model X hits 79,900, good bye Rivian! I’ll jump ship immediately. Tesla is a great product. Not off road worthy or niche, but reliable and consistent.
100% remove it. If needed, buy the new Tesla version that comes with J1772 adapter.
To answer question, removing or adding it won’t change delivery timing as it is separate of manufacturing of vehicle.
R1 should be able to power this without issue. However, it will keep vehicle awake and thus use 20-50% more energy than AC will use. So likely, to run AC for 24 hours, it’ll be 33-40% or SOC.
White and silver have an appreciable difference. Any other color unlikely to make as tremendous impact. Window tint, as mentioned, has a huge impact at assisting to maintain cooler cabin temps. Lighter interior choice will also be of benefit.
The cheapest option is to avoid areas where you are likely to get stuck. The times I’ve been stuck were high centering and super soft sand. The latter I could have gotten out of now with my off-road knowledge but the former was a gross mistake.
Cheapest option would be traction boards and a come along with pulleys. A tow rope or kinetic rope is good as well but expensive. A baller option is hitch mounted winch. A super baller option is to custom build a front hitch mount where you can also mount winch.
What’s the disadvantage of buying and selling? If you’re off the grid, it is needed to charge rate by solar capacity but on grid, seems unnecessary giving service providers will 1:1 trade KW (presuming price is equivalent).
Winch? A hitch mounted solution. Pulley reductions with a come along. Tow rope and kinetic rope. Gear depends on what things you have to use to get you out. In some places you’ll need a shovel to bury a log a few feet into the ground to create an anchor of nothing else is around.
Ratchet straps with a solid ratchet is best. However, I use the $2 2-pk Husky brand from Homedepot most times for smaller or lighter things on my open platform trailer.
Rhino straps is an excellent company. Straps don’t last forever but they warranty them no question if you reach out.
Thanks for posting. This is what I have on order. Almost switched to OC interior today but after seeing this, I think the green interior just looks better - even if resale value will be less. The lighter color dash and wood colored trim is just significantly better looking.
You could always pop them off, add painters tape where they mount, and put them back on. This would further minimize wear and allow you to benefit from the aero.
