  1. Highway Assist tried to run us off the road (edit from saying Self-driving)

Until highways are revamped to work in tandem with the technology or the technology is used en masse, "self driving" will always be unreliable and should only be used as an aid, not a crutch. Glad you're okay.
  2. MY ACCELERATOR PEDAL BROKE OFF (in Rivian R1T)!!

Yikes. That's an embarrassing one for Rivian. Will be interesting to see if they do more tests on it now and potentially start replacing the part when people have their trucks in for service.
  3. Midnight Black R1S + Black Wheels looks soooo good! ?

Personally not a fan of white or black big SUVs. This would be my last color combo choice by a wide margin.
  4. EA Electrify America Network is like a box of chocolates... 2000 mile trip report

If you're noticing a trend it's because EA uses several different types of chargers/installers. They might look the same on first glance but they're quite different, and some of them are more reliable than others. At one point it was up to 5 or 6 but I don't remember the exact details. I know a...
  5. R1S Demo Drives expected to start "early this summer": CS chat

No. It's just a CS way to keep you hooked. My guide has flat out told me I won't be getting an R1S demo drive before my delivery and that tracks much more accurately with everything else we know. I expect they'll stick with R1Ts drives, which honestly is fine. There just isn't that big of...
  6. Elon Musk says that Lucid and Rivian are tracking toward bankruptcy

I mean, his statement is true but it's also not unusual. Most companies, not just car manufacturers, are technically "tracking towards bankruptcy" when they start delivering products. Until you reach full ramp up and smooth production, you're operating at a loss. So the statement is both...
  7. Range Anxiety - Is it Real???

Just to reiterate what a valuable tool Plugshare is. If you aren't using it when traveling in an EV, you're really making life more difficult.
  8. Handwriting from factory on side of my R1T

It's insane that Rivian let that through QC. Unacceptable.
  9. $10K cash for any reservation with delivery date in the next 30 days...

You misunderstand the rule. The rule is if you buy with the intention of reselling. Literally all you have to do is say "I didn't like it" and the tax credit is yours, there's nothing for the IRS to come after. The rule is for car dealerships so an owner/manager can't personally take the tax...
  10. R1S updated estimated delivery window email (received June 11)

Counterpoint: the R1S is a more unique offering given current and soon to be released EVs, whereas the R1T already has direct competitors, making the R1S a more valuable model. There are plenty of threads talking about how few 7 seat EVs are even on the horizon, and of those very few if any fit...
  11. R1S updated estimated delivery window email (received June 11)

You have a June 2020 order and got an August-September slot? Is Rivian high?
  12. R1S update email from Rivian (June 11)

You will be anyway. Wait 2-3 years if you're not up for that.
  13. Saved by PPF

Yeah, those thousands of dollars for PPF really saved you from maybe having to do a 30 second pass of paint correction.
  14. $10K cash for any reservation with delivery date in the next 30 days...

It's no longer allowed and the guides have been instructed to question accounts with suspicious or changed info. So if anyone tries to do this be prepared to have your reservation canceled.
  15. Any R1S Delivery Updates?

There's an issue with Rivian's email system that causes some people to not receive the emails. One way this happens is if you ever changed your email address, the system will sometimes send to your old email instead.
  16. Tipping

If it's a Rivian employee? No, absolutely not. If it's from a transport company and they're doing a good job? Yeah, a $20.
  17. Give up your 3rd row for MAX battery (extra 100miles)?

Not to be a downer but the battery design where eliminating the 3rd row gets you that much more capacity doesn't exist and no one is going to spend the money to create it. It is puzzling to me why they eliminated the 5 seat option, though. It's a pretty good indication of their production...
  18. Trade in pricing negotiation/approach?

Rivian uses a company for their trade ins and I doubt they "negotiate". It's a take it or leave it offer.
