My main skepticism about it being an accident or a bug is that the omission was exclusive to the base Dual Motor config. Performance had it, All Terrain packages had it.
That implies that their code has logic that would enable/disable the feature depending on the configuration. For example...
I know miscommunications is very common at Rivian, but multiple CSRs have reached out to different teams to verify if the disparity is intended. At the very least, no one at Rivian has yet claimed that the disparity is not intended. But there've been multiple firsthand accounts (including...
Regarding the cost to upgrade to Performance and whether it's overpriced or not, I think of it in terms of halving the MSRP and Upgrade cost. $5k on top of $80k sure fells like just an extra $5k. But if it were $2.5k on top of $40k, all of a sudden it feels reasonable.
All they need is enough...
Unfortunately, multiple owners (including myself) have spoken with Rivian directly. Their support staff was unaware of the disparity, which is one clue it's a bug. However, they escalated the bug report to their Updates team who responded saying the omission is intended.
After escalating the...
"We also redesigned the Drive Modes app for everyone with improved accessibility and ease-of-use for the driver, plus new real-time vehicle data gauges."
That's one continuous train of thought. Everyone gets improved accessibility. Everyone get gauges.
You can't say "All contestants of this...
For people who are genuinely mad about the omission of gauges for standard DM, make a stink about it.
Reply to reviewers on twitter. Reach out to tech journalists to make them aware of the omission.
Rivian said this was coming to everyone. But it appears it's not true:

I just got a call back from the support rep, and was told that the Updates team told her that the disparity was intended. ?
I was also told to call our Guides to lodge a formal complaint.
Here to provide a glimmer of (hopefully not false) hope:
I spoke to a Customer Engagement specialist just now, who was unaware of the disparity. So she transferred me to a support tech.
The support tech had me do a soft & hard reset. Neither fixed the issue.
She then opened a ticket to their...
It was thought to be performance, because it had 4 drive modes. But a lot of people didn't realize that the 4th mode was Soft Sand, not Sport.
So in summary, the following people have confirmed whether or not they have gauges:
Quad Motor: Yes
Dual Motor Performance: Yes
Dual Motor (+ All...
That's absolutely not true. The F150 specifically can be spec'd with different motors on most trims. And actually, the state of Oregon defines the F150 Lightning Base, XLT, and Lariat to be identical (just with separate options).
That's the key thing; what options may be added to the vehicle...
Those lists of modes are out of date now. Towing is now no longer a mode; all modes (aside form Rally and Drift on QM) are now tow-capable.
That person who claims they have a Standard Dual Motor actually technically does, but they have the All Terrain package. That means that they have "Soft...
I bought my Dual Motor (non-performance) with the understanding that I was getting less drive modes. But that's it.
2023.38 has introduced a new schism where we are getting even less of the software experience, and what's worse, without prior communication. But actually worse than that...
This is simply bullshit if it's not a bug. There are standard dual motors in the hands of owners, and the only thing we've been told is that we have fewer drive modes.
They've been advertising this feature, and made no effort to distinguish a skimped offering.
