At the moment, Iām using a portable charger with a 30-amp outlet in the garage, however Iād like to install an outdoor pedestal charger by our carport (the previous owners had interesting ideas about geometry, resulting in the garage being inaccessible to anything larger than a side by side)...
I wonder if installing a charge equalizer could solve that.
Edit: actually, I guess that doesnāt make any sense. It would require the two battery vehicles to be running a 24V systemā¦
If it works from the 7-pin, I could see attaching a solar panel to the last segment of a manual tonneau cover for this. That could be a pretty great solution.
I assume it would also be almost guaranteed to work from the jump pigtails, right? In order to use them as designed, theyād have to...
I did say āmore or lessā⦠Iām not about to shell out for this solution without at least testing out that it should work on my R1T first. Iāve got a solar battery tender that should allow me to test it out.
Iāve got a Gobi rack on my KL, that I had been planning on mounting a solar battery tender to, as soon as I get around to finding a good solution to routing the cables for. This is probably better.
Now that it seems like weāve more or less confirmed that a battery tender will solve the vampire drain issue, Iām even more interested in the Lensun hood solar panel. Iām mostly concerned about battery drain when in places where plugging in just isnāt an option (my R1T is in an airport parking...
Itās definitely frowned upon in some places. The daily parking garage at BWI has signs expressly forbidding it, but Iāve also seen people post on PlugShare that they did it anyway, so⦠?āāļø
I think it depends on the chargers. I used the ones at BWIās express lot, back when they were Shell Recharge, and it seemed like they reactivated the charge session to keep the battery at the specified soc if it dropped below after the initial charge session ended.
I wish there was a better way...
I second the suggestion that itās the dimmers. We have the old-school style push button switches (modern ones for dimmable LEDs, not actually old ones, though our house did still have a few of those when we moved in), and we also experience annoying flickering at times, even without EV charging...
Um, yeah. What the hell? How do you get to those settings? I literally have never seen that screen or those options before in 8,000 miles of driving this truck.
If the efficiency numbers hold up, I will strongly consider getting one of these. We drive our R1T back and forth between Maryland and New Mexico, and even a small efficiency gain can make a difference over that 2000 mile drive. Itās one of the reasons Iām conflicted about switching away from...
Interesting. I donāt think this is true for all the belts. We leave the center rear belt buckled all the time, as it has a carabiner on it that hooks to our dogās harness, and Iāve never seen this sort of extreme drain.
Oh, theyāre real; thereās just not a whole lot of them in places like The Desert, Grasslands, and Above The Tree Line, and even when theyāre around, theyāre not always in convenient places.
Yeah, that āsomehowā is the tricky part! I originally had this idea when I was driving a Ram with a long bed, so my thought was to just hang the hammock diagonally across the bed from a ladder rack or something. Sadly the bed in the R1T wouldnāt quite work for thatā¦
I bet you could rig up some...
No, Iām not trying to suspend my R1T, though that would be pretty cool.
What Iām thinking is using the accessory ports to support a hammock rack that could be used if no trees are available. Basically, if you have a long pole mounted to both of the front accessory ports, would you have to worry...
Driving around Baltimore this weekend, with the AC blasting in my R1T dual-motor max pack with stock road tires/wheels, I was getting around 3-3.5. On the highway I wasnāt paying as much attention, but I believe it was in the mid to high 2s.
ABRP says 3.13 at 65 mph, pulling data from the truck
This happened to me last week! Putting our dog in the back seat after an outing, we discovered the gear tunnel was unlocked, and protruding further than it does when you simply push the button to unlock it. I hadnāt touched the gear tunnel for at least a couple days, so it possibly was like that...
I donāt know about the volume issue, but if youāre concerned with audio quality, the built-in app is definitely the way to go. Bluetooth does not have sufficient bandwidth to transmit full quality, lossless audio.
