Iām planning on setting up a hood-mounted solar panel to test this, but wonāt be able to do it until November or December. However, I donāt know that a second battery will be necessary. If the solar panel ensures a 100% SoC on the 12V battery at the end of the day, will it drain enough overnight...
I used Highway Assist for most of a 4000+ mile roadtrip, and I love it. Iāve also used it in rush hour traffic on the Baltimore beltway, and itās been great.
Certain road surfaces and conditions give it problems, and this can be region-specific. Whatever they do to their roads in Arkansas and...
The 2024.31 update does seem to have improved things. It took about 30 hours for my SoC to drop by 1% simply parked on the street with gear guard on and connected to WiFi.
Roughly, yes. It sat in an airport lot for about a week last month, and it was more like 2-3 per day, though I didnāt watch it that closely. It is still at 69% now, so itās been about 29 hours with <1% drop.
SoC was 70% when I parked it, dropped very quickly to 69%, but it hasnāt changed in ~26 hours. āOnlyā 1% VD per day actually seems pretty good! Itās been more like 2-3 the past couple months. Just in park (not shipping mode or anything). Not plugged in. Connected to WiFi.
This, I think, is the one real argument in favor of The Software That Shall Not be Named that simply canāt be ignored. Maybe future software updates will address things like navigation for trailering or carrying propane, but in the meantime, weāre presented with software that very much can tell...
Yes. But different people find different things to be more comfortable. For example, I am one of the people who loves to have the AC blowing directly on exposed skin, while my wife prefers to have it blow away from her, and just cool the overall temperature.
We actually love the vent presets...
Which has nothing to do with cabin temperature, unless your upholstery is wetā¦
Obviously this is an absurd position in an absurd argument about what comes down purely to personal preference.
I think I read a different article about this (possibly a different but similar product) that mentioned it has its own battery, which lets It store enough power to be able to add an appreciable charge to your vehicle in a short amount of time. Otherwise, pure solar with such a small footprint...
What wheels do you have? Looks like maybe the Voltaic Rhinos from the picture? Could be a factor, though that still seems like a pretty extreme drop to be caused be wheels.
On a dual-motor max pack? (Iām guessing from your signature.)
Almost 1 mpk drop seems pretty significant. Iāve got the same configuration, and want to maintain my range for long road trips, so I keep going back and forth on changing the tires (I also want 3PMSF and better dirt road handling).
I got the actual dimensions of the Lensun solar panel for the Rivian hood. We could definitely fit something larger, but Iām not sure anyone makes anything of proportions that would look better. Strongly considering buying one to test out.
