I do use ZEF. Not bad in a pinch but 50kw is still slow if you’re in a hurry.
However you’re right, Wisconsin is getting much better. Kwik trip is starting to implement chargers and I hear they are putting them near Amery and St Croix falls.
Hayward is VERY in the middle of a charging dead zone...
I got the 21s with the aero covers. Original Pirelli tires. I typically ran between 2.25 and 2.4 before it got so cold, I think the climate control does a good number on the efficiency, I never saw above 2mi/kw until I got off the highway and did some country road driving. Average speed of 72-74mph.
Thought I’d post my experience driving from Chicago to my In laws house in Northwest Wisconsin. They live in an area with very little charging infrastructure so planning the trip is very key.
We left the suburbs around 5am at 95% battery on the 2024 gen 1 R1T dual motor large pack. Temperatures...
Dang man, that's not good. I live 15 mins from O'Hare and often think about charging half of what O'Hare would for long term parking and I would just top off peoples rivians.
Worst case scenario I'd help you out. But 10% a day is unacceptable. I know it's cold out but it shouldn't be that high.
I got the Grizzl-e Avalanche edition just a couple feet from my sub panel. Worked out really well. I wanted just a simple dumb charger that was white that goes with the everything else in the garage.
However def jealous of some of your set ups. That Rivian charger does look awfully nice.
Funny enough, I used the portable charger for a while and my issue came when I went on a road trip and forgot my portable at home. Totally my fault but I got a Wall charger literally so I would not forget my portable one when I needed it. That was my reason, which could be dumb for some people...
I did notice that DC fast charging pricing is all over the place. Which state or area did you see the best charging rates, and which had the worse?
I live in Illinois and go up through Wisconsin often, and the EA station still charge by the min. If you can get cranking between 150kw and 200kw...
It is like a 10 min difference in ideal conditions. In the whole scheme of things it really isn't a huge difference.
As long as no one else is at the station then IDC about being at a faster charger, but I def would probably move out of a 350kw stall if a ionic 5 showed up and my charging was...
Well this is good to know!
I feel like charging infrastructure is just going to get better and in a few years most of my complains will be definitely in the past.
Haha love it! Dang Rivian in the 150kw station went to 75% like a fool!!!
Honestly I'm not really mad at other drivers. I feel like most people still get range anxiety with the vehicles and I can totally see why they feel like charging up more then I would go is making them feel more secure.
I...
Small rant but I'm curious if I just have bad luck. Right now, any trips I take long distance, I am at the mercy of EA DCFC. The 2 stations I've been using only have 4 stalls available. Everytime I arrive, there is ALWAYS a Chevy bolt, a Mach E, or ID4 charging at the 350kw fast charger, leaving...
