This interview was insightful, thanks for the link @cjones1130.
There is no way you can argue this wasn't a big mistake on Rivian's part, and that they will lose some goodwill among customers, and possibly lose some customers altogether over this. That's just life, mistakes have consequences...
I agree with this mostly. I would also add that Rivian has an opportunity to learn, make improvements, and communicate those improvements to the community. All of these are strictly positive outcomes, and is a chance for Rivian to show what type of organization they are.
EDIT: I should add that...
I've been thinking about how everyone is feeling after this update debacle including me (and it is a debacle, no way to sugar coat it).
One thing that occurs to me is that we have a lot of OTA updates in our lives today. From TVs to phones to laptops to thermostats to etc. And my general...
Do they have an automatic way of knowing which VINs tried the update and failed? I talked to customer service last night but didn't specifically ask them to log my VIN, but maybe they did anyway. What are others doing?
Feels like they could make some smart software to ding a reminder if the bed camera detects an object on the edge of the bed or on top of a cover (and there should be a way for you to easily dismiss the message as well for the cases where the bed is just loaded that way on purpose).
I just talked to customer service. As previous poster said, I was told to leave the car unplugged, no seat belts, don’t sit in the car, connected to Wi-Fi, and don’t try to check it from the phone, so the car can go to sleep.
They indicated if car is in that state, it will automatically get an...
These could work too. Not sure how strong they are compared to the Yakima ones, or what you are trying to use them for, so you may want to double check:

BTW, that hardware is meant for...
I think a good compromise is to do both. For a change like this they could both keep the default behavior the same, AND make you scroll through the changes so you know the option exists. They could actually prompt you at some point when you are trying to change out of park, to choose whether or...
I ended up canceling my order for the Radius wheels due to the delays and ordered the R800s from EV Sportline. They are more expensive for sure, but I like having the option for bronze anyway, and when I ordered you could use the SPOOKY10 code to get 10% off, it might still be valid. Which that...
I just got that same exact config, post-price hike, and after submitting for a rebate it was rejected because it was over the 80K cap.
The sad part is that I had a R1S pre-order from 2021 and at the last minute decided I really wanted the truck because my wife purchased a minivan which would...
Payload is 1792 lbs for a Dual Motor R1T Large Pack, 21" stock tires, no spare, no tonneau, no skid plate.
I didn't see this in the table in the original message, so thought I would contribute the info.
Those are very well priced! On the link I included to the evsportsline site, I realized afterwards there is a pulldown option for aftermarket sensors, which are cheaper ($240/4 instead of $380/4 for the OEM ones), and ended up ordering the aftermarket ones. Still twice as expensive as these on...
In case someone is looking for 275/60R20 winter tires on these 20" wheels to replace the 21" stock setup, I had a hard time finding winter tires that were in stock and had the proper load ratings (assuming that is important).
The only non-studded ones I found online that had the correct load...
