Nope, definitely not directed at you. Some of the initial reactions in this and other threads just felt over the top.
I definitely understand it would be annoying if they took away a feature you that found useful. I just think that if cost reductions alone were the goal, there’s so many other...
Do we actually know why they cut it? I think we’re assuming it’s a cost measure and they’re “being cheap.”
I’ve noticed this forum has an unusually high degree of assuming the worst intent from this company and it spirals into “they’re going out of business!” chants.
To be honest I haven’t...
Yeah, I’m aware of the language in earnings reports. They say “loss per vehicle” as a way to normalize expenditure against some unit so you can think about it in meaningful, relative terms.
It’s that people take that out of context as meaning that you can’t build one R1T/S at the cost it sells...
Re: Rivian finances / costs, a lot of people keep saying “lost” when it’s more appropriately “spent.” You’re referring to a company in a still early, heavy growth stage in an industry that requires mad capex.
Took my track day setup out a few weeks ago: Futura Super Sport with a Lotus, loaded about 4,500lb. The rock guards on these are known to be great at killing efficiency. I headed out without any preconditioning, cool-ish 50F temps and did 70mph up a stretch of highway to see the range listed...
My Polestar 2 has always been completely solid at avoiding phantom drain. I've even had it parked outside for the last week+ with night time lows at 20F, hasn't lost a point. From what I understand, most batteries shouldn't actually even need thermal management until they're closer to 0?
Oh yes that’s more severe. Sorry to hear that was happening. For what it’s worth, I’ve still had mine pop in about 2 times since even the last update, however I’m still able to park it (on screen or just lifting off the brake) and it goes away after.
Interested to see what you learn from them.
Does yours prompt with an ability to put it in park using the main screen? I noticed that when it did happen, it wasn’t visible if you were in the camera view.
Another thing noticed was that just lifting your foot off the brake and opening the door would also make it self park.
I still think that doing one test, whether for a model to model comparison or charging performance, being taken as canonical performance indicators is extremely questionable.
The charge speed really got me. Everyone knows how temperamental and inconsistent chargers are. Honestly, one of the...
I have some highway stretches with rhythmic bumps that I've noticed in all my cars. I haven't particularly noticed a porpoising issue with the R1T but was playing with the suspension stiffness settings, and ironically found the ride more stable on 'stiff' on that particular ride. Might be worth...
I again think this is the entire problem with tons of people and even magazines now responding to these single OOS tests as canonical performance results.
Reiterating again that I’m hitting the EPA numbers in the real world, cold temps on ATs with the heat being used often.
It kind of does matter how they’re driven (depending what you care about) because even with a relative comparison, the baseline numbers (EPA) are established with a different test pattern than what was performed here.
In other words, it’s meaningless unless both trucks also published sustained...
Keeping in mind “the EPA rating isn’t a sustained highway test.”
I’ve only had my R1T gen 2 dual max for a few weeks, but do a lot of mixed city and highway. It’s been cool the entire time, 35-55F max and I’m on the Goodyear ATs– my lifetime average efficiency yields 378 miles, 2 short of the...
People’s remarks on the audio seem so completely mixed. Does “good” mean “bass” or something?
One of the most stars * sheer volume of positive reviews headphones in the audio world are basically beats and skull candy. I have or had headphones and loudspeakers from KEF, B&W, Audeze, Sennheiser...
Having a Gen2 dual max, I genuinely don't share any of the complaints. Audio is fine (and I've owned a ton of high end non-auto equipment), heat pump isn't noisy in mine, and the real world range is so beastly that I have yet to even take mine to a public fast charger.
The once a year that I do...
I was previously doing soft resets, tried one hard reset and haven't had it happen since. That's good to hear about the incoming update, I was looking forward to seeing if that clears it for good.
IMO it’s a mistake of the manufacturers to put so much emphasis on the performance aspect of (utility) EVs. We really want to say it can do it all: tow, a 3s 0-60, we slap on “sport” modes and performance tire options. Feels like entirely the wrong direction when you’re 5-9000lb with a high hood...
Learned this yesterday while setting up a test run, which turned out to be a good idea. Beefy hitch. Lowes had a perfectly sized 5/8” locking pin in case anyone needs something easy to find.
Sure, I’m not 0% worried, it’s that the parking mechanism itself still works fine through the center screen prompt. I have also considered that it could be intermittent hardware issue literally on the stalk itself since an alternative mechanism to trigger parking works.
Did yours have issues...
