That’s my understanding as well. In the VIN decoder, my Gen 1 Standard+ states it’s a “Electric, Max Pack, Dual-Motor, AWD.”
The other factor is only Standard+ and up can support the performance upgrade.
I would love to purchase temporary expansion for trips. That would be clutch and easy way for Rivian to make extra cash on their vehicles. Not every day I need the full potential but it would be great for road trips.
It took me multiple purchases to find the right one for my R1S. Complications included poor fitment, loose material when mounted, or difficultly keeping the screen attached. Many did not meet my expectations until I found one.

Same here. VIN 417XX and picked up my Gen 1 R1S at the end of March. It had very minor items to tidy up. Drives like a dream and plan to keep it after the lease.
OP - Hope everything gets sorted out for you. ?
I would love it if Rivian could confirm this being a Standard+ owner. I’d love to purchase the extra space in my battery or know if I could charge to 100% more regularly if needed. I’ve asked a few times to support and to my Mobile Service Tech. Neither could comment but agreed it made sense.
If it behaves the same as the Standard+, then you would have a good buffer charging to 85% or more knowing it’s still not even close to the full potential of the battery.
I’d be curious on this potential software lock and how it plays out. Seems like a similar behavior we’ve seen from Rivian before when they want to move products. Especially for us Gen 1 Standard+ pack owners. I sent an email to Rivian to comment on this and they pointed me to their latest news. ?‍♂️
I wanted to give a shout out to the team at @twraps for outstanding support and service. While this was unrelated to their products, I had a rear tail light malfunction on my R1S. Rivian needed to do a driver side rear replacement and the 50% film I previously installed wouldn’t match the rest...
Came home from a trip and noticed my driver side blinker illuminating at a faster rate than normal. Verified my rear driver break light is no longer functioning just out of the blue. Mobile Service is coming to look at it, but being the curious person I am I wanted to figure it out the process...
On a 1 to 5 scale, 1. I haven’t taken it out and don’t have plans to until winter. I’ll report back then on when I do. I’ve enjoyed the shade more than I expected. Especially with my two year old in the back covered as well.
