Exactly. Like why would it matter that the 2 EAs within 5 miles of each other have 3 stalls each vs a Tesla SC in the middle with 20 stalls. Who would want to go sit and wait at the EA? OP keeps quoting numbers that he thinks proves his point, but only does the opposite. Like says 4 OEMs are on...
So I’m actually super curious, who are these dozens of OEMs with CCS commitments with no NACS announcements in North America you speak of? Dozens means more than 1 dozen, so at minimum there are 24 OEMs in North America committed to CCS and not NACS that you are aware of. Can you please list...
For me EA has been mostly fine (maybe 75% success rate) , but the others not so much. Like yesterday I had to try 3 Chargepoint stalls before i could get a 50kW max charge. The main issue for me is the inconsistencies. Some times my charging experience is perfect, some times it's painful, other...
Yeah that’s pretty good. Way below the avg cost per kWh In California. For reference, I charge at my home in Los Angeles and I’m paying more than double what you are.
1. Your “math lesson” is pointless and skews reality. 4 vs dozens? That makes it sound like CCS has a leg up. But…wait…those 4 make up ~73% of the EV market! LOL. You say “dozens” because you are including EV makers that have shipped zero EVs.
2. Your count of 4 (which is meaningless) wont even...
actually, since I’m feeling bold, I got one more prediction for you: i’ll also meet you back here by 12/31/2025 once funding does not require CCS at a minimum. :) Since by then, it would be a clear waste of taxpayer dollars to continue to invest in CCS as very few if any CCS cars will be built...
Got it. Thanks. Although I Got some good news for you…they already announced the adapter will be FREE to all current and future CCS vehicles. So no, I don’t think they "will make hundreds of thousands of people people pay for a NACS adapter" because they literally already said they wouldn’t. But...
What year do you think it will be when Rivian stops installing CCS on all RAN chargers? Or do you think that day will not come?
My prediction: Rivian supports all current and future CCS R1s via the free adapter. They will NOT continue to install CCS on 100% of their RAN chargers by the end of...
I’m not sure you read what I wrote as this is exactly what I said. They literally announced today that CCS will NOT exist on their cars post 2025 and while they didnt announced changes to RAN plans, no chance new RANs dont have NACS by end of 2025. Not sure why you’d say that’s not “giving up”...
Pretty great news. I was not surprised by the switch to NACS, but very surprised by the free adaptor. I would have had zero issue if they charged us ~$500 for it. So in about a year I’ll be able to charge at every CCS and NACS and it won’t cost me anything to do so (Other than of course the cost...
They are certainly giving up on CCS. Would be like someone’s wife filling for divorce this morning and being being like “I’m technically still married and my wife isn’t really giving up on this marriage!“ as they head off to Cabo with their new NACS boyfriend. Sorry, but it’s over…
Of course...
Considering you probably paid $15K to $20K less on your ~2022 Rivian thanks to pre-march pricing than a 2025 NACS Rivian and your Rivian will be 3+ years older at that time I wouldn’t worry too much about it going for less on the dealer lot
I doubt it. We will likely see NACS Rivians with a new charge port on the front/passenger side. So any parts made wouldn’t fit. It also wouldn’t make sense to build out a retrofit path as the adapter will be a lot cheaper. I wont mind the adapter.
Great day for us existing Rivian owners and for EV adoption in general. I cant wait for my adapter. ironically, I could really use it today as I head out on a trip that requires me to go 10 miles out of my way to hit a EA charger in a CCS dead zone (pun intended ? )
I just pulled the below from one of the pictures on Rivian's website. This is what the hood "should" look like. Perfectly aligned. Mine looks more like yours than this. It doesn't really bother me, but if I have some sort of major warranty issue and it's got to be at the SC for an extended...
It’s been 2.5 months since someone backed into me and took out my headlight and I finally got my truck back after repairs today. It’s not perfect, but I think I’m ok with that. I just want to move on and enjoy my truck. The gap around the headlight is still pretty significant. While I don’t have...
I'd be curious to learn if this was possible on current hardware (i.e. for us in R1s today) or if any L3 plans included required hardware changes to future R1/2s.
I'd be curious for those that are getting it now what situation they were in when they ordered the manual cover. For example, I ordered my R1T from the shop with a 2/15 delivery date. The cover was NOT in the shop configuration, but my guide added it to the config for me and I paid for it. I...
