Week 1 of new R1S ownership. Condo shared garage has ChargePoint level 2 stations. They are not public and require a “subscription code” provided to residents. Did first charge with it last night (started around 30% SoC). Was pleasantly surprised at the final bill especially given the complex subsidizes half the cost, so charges me a bit over $6 bucks! Seems much lower than I anticipated given a prior fast DC seasion at EVgo about same range hike cost nearly $40.

That works out to about $0.11/kWh by my math (assuming $6.05). For SD I guess that is pretty good but others are certainly paying less for home charging, for example I pay <$0.05/kWh if I charge at night but would pay up to $0.22/kWh other times of the day (not counting any solar production).

Yeah that’s pretty good. Way below the avg cost per kWh In California. For reference, I charge at my home in Los Angeles and I’m paying more than double what you are.

I agree, with SCE if not for my solar NEM I would be paying 22 cents overnight. You may want to verify that the $12 does not already factor in the discount.

$0.22/kWh isn’t bad at all.

I’ve found that Chargepoints near me have started charging a lot less than I pay for electricity at my house, so I’ll supplement there when we’re out for dinner/etc.

At home, I pay minimum $0.30/kWh, but at the CPs, it’s half (or less). Go figure.

Yeah the couple ChargePoints I've used have all been $0.20/kWh or cheaper, whether they charge by time or metered power. EA is consistently $0.30~$0.35 per kWh, but of course much faster as all the ChargePoints I've been to are 50kW stations. And those EA rates are with buying the monthly pass. I'd prefer not to do the monthly pass, but one good charge on my Lightning each month, pays for the pass plus a couple $ in savings.

I only DCFC about once a month on road trips so 99% of my charging is at home. I was paying $0.08/kWh for the past several years, but now it's like $0.098/kWh and only after 9PM. Otherwise it's like $0.15/kWh.

I really feel for you guys in CA and other areas where it's more expensive to charge at home than at public chargers. That's just nuts.
