ChargePoint in Rivian app

I just noticed that there's a ChargePoint entry under Charging Account in the Account section in my Rivian app. I don't recall creating this, and had thought that I had always used the ChargePoint app when charging at ChargePoint (the only charging network that I use that annoyingly doesn't have plug and charge with my Rivian). But now I see one of my ChargePoint sessions under Charging History in my Rivian app. I also see the same session in the Activity in my ChargePoint app.

Does anyone know what this is? A Reddit entry on the topic wasn't of much use.

(When charging at ChargePoint, I have always been able to tap to start the charge without opening the ChargePoint app nor unlocking the phone, so I had just assumed that the ChargePoint app was what I was using...but now I wonder if the Rivian app instead was being used. I recall the real-time info appearing in the ChargePoint app. Oops, silly me assuming, not that it billing through the Rivian app instead of the ChargePoint app would be an issue. I just don't know now what's happening, and would prefer to, if anyone knows.)

I don't recall the specifics, but when I purchased the R1 and provided the credit card for charges, part of the process was to link ChargePoint for plug and charge. I have never used ChargePoint, so no experience on billing but assume through Rivian.

IIRC this was one of the original charging integrations. I recall setting it up sometime during the months-long wait for delivery.

But I have no idea how it works, I've never been able to use it because every chargepoint I've ever been to requires you to tap to unlock the handle, at which point you're authorizing directly in the chargepoint app?

It's been there forever, and doesn't do anything with Chargepoint. I think it's a relic of an attempted but failed integration.

I think it's related to plug and charge for your vehicle. I think this is how locations that plug and charge (like tesla superchargers) know where to bill you.

My mercedes doesn't plug and charge with Tesla but it does with electrify america and we were walked through linking chargepoint for this purpose when we bought it.
