Mellowyellow is correct. You do need to push the button as far as possible. It is also tight when you first use it. Have your husband install and remove it few times.
Another vote for A2Z. I had there adapters for my Gen 1 R1S and I bought them for my 2026 Gen 2 R1S. I waited four weeks to get the L2 AC adapter from Rivian so that is first one I got from A2Z.

I think federal funding was a factor. The program was a federal permission for Interstate highways. The California version was a sticker good for three years. The feds took the permission away. NOT getting into politics but this is one federal mandate that California decided to not contest.
