Yeah, like some kind of button that keeps the power on ... they could call it the "power button" ... as a bonus, they could invent something where you press it again to turn the power off instead of having the car stay on all night due to a mislatched seat belt ... surely a tech company like Rivian could solve this problem ... maybe for R3 ...

You must be new here. We are not allowed to talk about physical keys, power buttons and AA/CP.

I use pet mode often just to maintain Temps without anyone else when I run in to pick up something. It's a treat coming back to a cool truck.

i know from research before rivian was actually sold to tHe public that this was a very intentional choice. Its a comparison to the lightening’s model. As i understand it its a design study of whats more long term benificial to the battery. Rivian always on vs lightening that shuts down and boots up. The best comparison is how an oil furnace work vs a heat pump. Furnace and its thermostat has greater peaks and valleys in their temperature range vs heat pumps are continuous.

Does pet mode keep the hotspot working now? I know when I tried it in the past it did not but that was at least a year ago. What I generally do if in a safe area is just soft close the door.

Agree with the comment above. My kids have found that if they just crack the door open, everything (including WiFi) stays on. Pet mode works too but I don't know about WiFi as of now.

In a Tesla you can use voice and say “keep Summer safe.” Google it if that doesn’t make sense. Laser cannons are an optional add on.

with the Rivian I use dog mode.

Have your spouse set up as a second driver. Their cell phone in the vehicle should prevent it from locking.
From auto locking (if enabled) and shut down. Manual locking is still available. And for personal security you want manual locking to be available.

There are a few ways. Three that I know of.

(1) You can use pet mode, disadvantage of pet mode is it diables a lot of vehicle controls like the windows because you don’t want a car full of dogs to be able to roll down the window and get out. There is a quick menu item to get to it, and maybe it is in the HVAC screen.

Depending on who is staying on the vehicle maybe that works well for you or maybe poorly.

(2) You can go into the camp “app” and set the HVAC to stay on, which leaves the window controls and everything working for humans. Works well, but there aren’t so many quick ways to activate it as dog mode.

(3) You can also set up one of the other people in the vehicle as a driver and their phone will keep the vehicle away. They will also become “the driver” so the seat may move, Bluetooth stereo will switch to their phone, and normally it does NOT switch back to you when you return (no concept of “priority driver”). It is “easy” once you set it up once it is basically automatic.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned this yet, but if the screens turn off your passengers can just touch the screen (within 10-15 seconds) and it will immediately turn back on. This works on the front or rear screen, no camp mode, pet mode, and no door cracking required

Front passenger stays buckled and the HVAC stays on.
