Hey guys, sorry for the delay on an update here. Contract negotiations with SAG to hire talented actors to play our engineers in this video were just really time consuming...
The basic points there are:
- Across 1300 miles of testing, Ben Moon is reporting a range reduction of 10 percent...
Ben's camper is a prototype. We've learned some lessons from his feedback and will be able to offer something unassailable and really unique as a result. Just texted the boss about timing on the update, you guys will be the first to know.
We're sitting in a meeting about this as we speak. Making one of those great vs good decisions.
Would you rather have a camper next month, or one that only impacts range within the margin of driving habit reductions? (And only wait a few extra weeks)
We have an install/service facility in Raleigh, NC: https://gofastcampers.com/pages/locations
Final weight will depend on exact height over cab (something we're working with Ben Moon to refine), but should be within 5 pounds of 275 pounds. Should be the lightest possible camper ever made for...
You're getting Pro unless you finalized your payment during the sale and during that process turned down the chance to upgrade.
If in doubt, don't worry. You'll be having a conversation with our sales team to finalize your purchase, and they'll be going over options, colors etc with you then...
Talked to Graeme to get answers for you:
- Any Rivian owners who locked in the $1k sale can opt into V2 Pro for $1k.
- Reachouts from us to take full payment and set your delivery date will occur once we have the finalized production unit. You can talk to us about Pro at that time. We don't...
Oh totally, there's pluses and minuses to every feature or design. With our weight, strength, and extreme durability/reliability/simplicity we're trying to make something that doesn't alter driving dynamics, severely reduce range, or that becomes a pain to deal with. Goal is to make your truck...
We're a lot lower than that, so sadly it won't fit. I've seen people cut racks in half so they sit in front of the camper though. Not sure what effect that would have on its ability to remain on said roof, or what curve balls that might throw at the aero.
We put a prototype on Ben Moon's truck this week (see photos above), and are working with him to finalize/optimize the design. Really encouraging progress so far. Production begins in August.
One of our USPs is that we guarantee shipping or install dates. So anyone who has placed their...
