8-Steps this morning. Guide told us factory pickup should be good for next week. Waiting on step 8 to unlock.
Interesting tidbit, we’re getting a Launch Edition. It was manufactured 12/1. Guide said all LE have been delivered, but they’re still making a few though end of year. We ended up...
No. We are doing factory delivery. If you accept a vehicle that’s in Normal or at another service center you have to pick it up. But we were told the truck is in QC and will be ready soon.
We got matched to a truck that matched our configuration, minus the spare, that’s at the factory in Normal. We told our guide we’ll take it. Expecting 8-Steps tomorrow and pick up next week. ?
Our guide also gave us some interesting insight, 9 out of 10 trucks he sees don’t have the underbody...
Update from our guide call this morning. Rivian has plenty of spare tires, they're short on the jacks and accessories that go with the spare. That is why the spare hasn't shown up in the gear shop, but the full sets of tires are available. He said there's no word on when a spare kit will be...
Our guide has been sending us available vehicles at various service centers and at the factory. That could be what she's referring to. Guides have more control over that vs the Shop.
We are working with our guide to hopefully find an available VIN somewhere that comes close to our configuration. He's still pushing for an exact match, but the team that handles this hasn't been really giving the guides much info.
We're paying cash, so we'll just ACH when it's time to...
I can’t speak for California specifically, but I’ve been told no money exchanges hands in person. If you pay via cashiers check, I’d assume you have to mail it Rivian prior to delivery.
ACH is a fairly seamless process. Wires are a funds sent and they’re gone. If you mess up something the money...
Our truck will be at the Richmond SC when it’s ready, so good to know about pickup. Heck, we told our guide we’d pickup in Normal.
Good to know on Carmax. We are likely going to get rid of our Macan when the R1T comes and we’ve always had good luck with Carvana and Carmax.
Wires suck in...
This is a good example of why our guide said hold off on paying for the truck and doing insurance until we have a confirmed delivery date. I know that’s not possible for everyone, but I’ve heard a lot of these stories of people who handed over money and don’t have a vehicle.
The guides are definitely handling more customers now than they were two months ago. Our guide told us they used to handle about 50 at a time, and they're now doing around 300. With that said, when I email I always hear back within a day.
I'm hoping we'll start to see a bunch of VIN...
Several options online. I’ve had luck with Carvana and Carmax, but one thing to keep in mind is market conditions and your location.
Plus, the wholesale used car market is coming down.
