I don't think it's as simple as that. Tesla relentlessly marketed all vehicles as being FSD-ready, whether or not the user purchased outright. There's very arguably a value proposition in being able to just "turn on" FSD later if the hardware is already there and included, for exactly the same...
My guess is you should plan to wait at least a year after the general release of R2. I can't believe it would make economic sense to release the car and then immediately follow up with a refresh that has significantly new hardware changes. At the very least give it a "new model year" so they can...
My tailgate has always dropped on its own when on a flat surface. Recently, the right side tailgate latch system broke and needed mobile service to fix.
After the fix (latch replacement), the tailgate no longer drops on its own, it requires a little nudge to clear the latch before it starts...
I have the full-body TWraps kit. That one piece on the upper tailgate is doing so much work, I push against it hard when closing the lid and never worry about marring the finish.
If they sell an entire tailgate kit, I would recommend it if you frequently use the tailgate pad for bikes.
Yes, it has to be free for everyone who's already paid for FSD. Typically they've offered the same upgrade as a paid charge to anyone who hasn't paid for FSD.
However, I do recall numerous claims about "every Tesla sold from now on has all the hardware needed for FSD, built in," so that could...
I'm sure he believed (esp. at first) that HW3 could get to FSD.
I'm sure he was plainly aware that there was a very high possibility that he was wrong, and as time went on he knew the chances of HW3 being sufficient were slim-to-none.
I'm sure that despite this, he decided it was important to...
For the PTC, have you tried the calibration routine? Mine closes in a way where the rubber gasket just gently starts to compress against the tailgate, but doesn't cause any resistance while closing (which is how I think it's supposed to be).
This being my first truck, I wasn't even aware that powered tailgate was a thing (or all manner of other fancy things like grab handles, bumper-cutout footsteps or step-stool tailgates!
Might be a good time to test that. Since the 12v mod here is tied to the 12v accessory port in the gear tunnel, you could plug a light or something into that now, put it in camp mode and see if that turns off automatically without the power management setting. It should act same when you run an...
I think there are a couple of separate things here:
1. The 12v doesn't run through the inverter, so the 120v shouldn't be affected. But I don't think that's what you're asking.
2. I believe Camp mode will still put the vehicle to sleep eventually and cut power to the electrical, but there is a...
Whoa, look at Mr. Big Spender over here!
J/K!
Dometic's site lists it as having refrigerant, so I assume it's a typical compressor setup.
I think during driving, the 12v system and all components are powered by the HV battery using a power converter, so you shouldn't have to worry...
I was looking this up when I was hardwiring a 50w radio into my truck. What I saw online is that is the 12v outlet is fused to 20A, which seems really high to me. I wouldn't want to run it more than 50% continuous myself, but for short bursts it should be OK.
Does the 12v fridge have a...
I see between 5-7 Rivians on the road in the 3-mile drive to drop my kids off to school
Perplexingly, that daily number was dwarfed by....Fisker Oceans of all things when when I went to visit NYC a couple of weeks ago. Literally saw 10 oceans a day over 6 days. More Fiskers than Model 3/Ys...
The stadium lights are pretty easy, they're a mostly flat surface and it's very easy to remove and reapply if needed.
Honestly, the gen2 front lightbar with the indented line across the bottom seemed like more of a pain, I didn't bother applying that one with my full-body PPF kit from Twraps...
I assume Autonomy+ is planned to stay at $2500 for a while, right. I main, no murmurings of pending price increases?
I was expecting to be a day-1 purchaser since UHF has worked pretty well for me, but I held off after it expired, and honestly, the highway lane-keeping has been pretty...
Plus, it can be pretty hard to tell in screens what the paint color actually is. Especially the most recent palette of options! That cream-white in post #1 could definitely be Dune.
