I test-fitted the Alpha Trax AT-751 on my 22" sport dark wheels. They fit *like a glove." Super tight, but not a problem locking the cables or installing the retention clips.
Agreed, and in my informal observations, the back motors only come on line if there is a fairly aggressive demand for power (like, if you need to pass someone on the freeway). However, it's optimized to prefer front-wheel-drive in any other situation, including when you accelerate gently at a...
Does AP mode on the duals automatically cut the rear motor fully (I assume yes, because there isn't a dedicated Conserve mode). I think that may be the difference on the Tri, as I've never seen the rear wheels go offline in AP mode.
If that's the case, I'm making a lot of noise over nothing. I do remember reading that people with Gen2s were still complaining about front tire wear and importance of tire rotations because of it though.
I only have that advanced metrics screen (the swipe left from drive modes) to go by, and I have to say I've never seen the rear motors disengage on the freeway. I'll check again, but it seems all 4 wheels are powered all the time to me, such that when I tap conserve and the graphic shows the...
I've been running my R1T Trimotor on informal tests between Conserve and All-Purpose, and generally speaking, Conserve makes a significant difference. Driving smoothly and relatively relaxed, mostly highway, Conserve easily hits 2.4-2.7mi/kwh, whereas AP is kind of all over the map, anywhere...
I think from Truckee you only need about 20-30 miles on the dash to make it all the way to Sacramento (or maybe Rocklin, I forget) :). I've never actually tried it, that's just how much range the trip back seems to eat up, as it's mostly downhill/flat.
Yes, I got the AT-751s. I still do need to test-fit them. Will reply here when I do.
I think Rivian recommends cables only on the rear wheels (though I've heard people have had success on the front as well).
Hey, apologies, I worded it poorly. I don't have one of these, I just meant this is the solution I would look to if I needed just a bit more space than what the R1T bed provides.
A big one - make sure you look at the garage size. Most new homes have "standardized" on tiny 20' space being "2 car garage," and it'll barely fit an R1 with another vehicle.
But if you are building, you can absolutely spec out a larger space that easily fits the truck.
It's definitely a risk. But those who got 2022 launch editions R1Ts got a monster of a steal - amazing hand-built truck, quad motor, with a max pack sized battery, for <$70k.
I don't think that's what the new Gen2Quad will be, but Rivian is kind of the exception to the rule here.
I suspect I will ALWAYS find something else that is just shy of fitting, no matter how much longer the bed is.
Right now, having the tailgate drop and still have a flat slideable surface across the entire bed floor seems like a great compromise for this situation. And we can always get those...
For bike tailgate pad, I concur with the others who say to get the Rivian one. For $200, it's made very well, has good coverage/protection, and shows the lightbar/brakes. https://rivian.com/gear-shop/p/rivian-tailgate-pad
For a bed mat, I'd recommending getting one that has a crease for the...
Yeah, I've just not seen this same level of detail from Rivian, from whatever reason. I suspect there are things that change extremely frequently (like options packages, pricing, HP/torque/suspension, connectivity features/specs that can be changed by OTA), and maybe they just figure they don't...
Yeah, if you know his style, that's his hint that he already has access to the Quad motor, and they're prepping a video on it.
I wouldn't be surprised if the reveal drops pretty soon.
I think I have a Moroney, but it's changed since December (some options pricing has gone up, etc.). Is there something specific you're looking for? What is it about the motors you want to see?
