I expect the tires to be the utmost limiting factor in any kind of performance metric for these vehicles. 840hp/900ftlb of torque out of the quad motors is an enormous figure and can/will easily roast the tires if it's not already metered out...especially so with the AT tires. Getting some...
Of course it's not easy but I think you did just answer the question of how yourself. Reading wheel speed sensors is easy and applying proportionally more power to the motor that's lagging in order to enforce that speed is the way to do it. It sounds simple, and it is in that it's a normal...
Of course you can do that. The objective is to apply even rotational speed and torque to both motors on the same end of the truck (or all four if the need arises, though this would be rare) such that the traction control doesn't have to do the thinking to find grip.
The disadvantage of this...
They do need a simulated locker option. The whole point of a locker is to ensure controlled movement in low traction situations. It takes time and wheel revolutions to detect that a wheel is spinning and then to figure out which wheel has grip and then to re-allocate power to the right place...
I've had a ticket open with them for a while now, they're looking into it so there's that. They've been good about calling to check in, get more data, ask questions, etc so hopefully progress is being made on their end. If this was Tesla they would have just said it's "within specs" and told...
I didn't get my windows tinted (might do that this summer) but did get a front end PPF done at tintpros. Great service, fast turnaround time, and good results. I got the whole front (front end, hood, fenders), headlights, mirrors, and the top strip of the tailgate done in gloss PPF.
Same but...
Has anyone heard of any more info or details around this whole membership/ala carte thing? There was the big push in mid Jan and then radio silence. I guess that's kind of par for the course but figured we would have had an update by now...
The truck will tell you if the battery fob is low from the last update. Mine says it's fine, still has questionable performance. Sometimes it works amazingly well, sometimes I stand there for 30-45s before anything happens, sometimes I even have to go into the app and wake the truck manually...
I already had this issue manifest but it definitely had an effect on drivability. My rear half shaft popped out of the motor disconnect and started making loud grinding noises, went into turtle mode. Truck had to get towed to Rivian and they replaced the half shafts (with new torque) and motor...
Same here. My truck sometimes doesn't even acknowledge the fob and I have to manually wake it in the app before anything happens. That's super fun when it's cold/raining.
Nope. If you hold the brake and floor the throttle in a Tesla Model 3 it limits motor output to prevent you from overwhelming the brakes and your 0-60 is actually a lot slower because of it. The best way to launch that car is just to floor it.
Doing the launch vs just flooring in a Rivian...
1.) It's expensive, very expensive
2.) It's a sedan
3.) Expensive cars are a tough sell in the current market
4.) No one wants sedans
5.) Definitely no one wants an expensive sedan
The Lucid outprices even cars like the Benz EQS which has a lot more established name, dealer network, etc than...
My pixel 6 still sucks. I've just resorted to carrying the fob with me.
I've also found that if the truck is parked and is in a deep sleep mode (like it does on my driveway), even the fob doesn't do anything. I have to go into the app and wake the truck before it will unlock. Pressing...
I HIGHLY doubt the production of a wristband would interfere with the production of a R1S...
Actually, I highly doubt that Rivian would produce the wristbands themselves to begin with.
Overlay traffic info into the gauge cluster map.
