Rivian needs to ditch the stadium headlights and probably the entire front theme. Right now all the cars look geeky/minion at best and hermaphroditical at worst. It's not the hill Rivian should die on, making that their signature look. Set the designers free!
My quad Bosch motors never failed. My enduro drive unit did, and my other enduro car is now squeaking.
We’ll see how reliable these turn out to be. Rivian hasn’t been able to design for reliability so far, as I’ve had issues with compressors, on-board chargers, suspensions, light bars, HVAC...
This is just the tip of the iceberg. Apple's software is OK, but their hardware is amazing. Their mobile AI chip design is off the charts, all on the latest TSMC process (which Rivian cannot afford, even if they had the chip design talent). Apple sells a billion iPhones; NVIDIA does not. Value...
I'll happily discuss Rivian software stability. I normally don't use much of it, but I've switched to Apple Music for streaming. That app crashes about once every day.
The Infotainment system itself hard reboots perhaps once every two months. It would reboot more often except for Rivian...
If Rivian doesn't partner with Waymo they have no prayer of getting this done in a useful or differentiated way. Rivian execs are total wankers, tilting at this windmill all the time. I guess that could be predicted by the fact that all the vehicle's headlights look like dorky glasses.
Even if they weren't at fault, there are reasons not to file a claim. For example, it may make you ineligible for an umbrella policy (again, regardless of fault).
My R1S makes a chirping sound on acceleration and deceleration which can only be heard with the window open. Since it's been winter, who knows how long that defect has been present. In only three months we'll find out what the problem is.
It looks like a minor accident; perhaps the Rivian kind of self-destructed on the inside. I wouldn't be surprised.
But congrats, you sure got him! Rivian propaganda control is always the first to arrive on the scene. I'm glad we have you here to repeatedly abuse these evil, evil community...
This used to happen to my Tesla all the time. Another way that Rivian is a clone of Tesla, I guess. I have a window which I suspect might be doing this, but the car gets so much use I can’t be sure.
My R1T has much weaker A/C compared to my R1S. It's almost nothing, just noticed it in warmer weather. We'll see what service says when I can finally get an appointment in three to four months.
Nobody wants to buy a new car in this economy. Maybe if interest rates drop and the economic outlook brightens more Tesla drivers will consider switching. Rivian only makes "want" cars. It does not make any "need" cars.
I’m curious to see whether these tariffs cause the dollar to strengthen, and, if so, if it strengthens to be more than the tariff. Not a 200% tariff, but maybe a 10% one. Trump has already offered some leeway on parts for cars assembled in the US.
For me, PAAK has never really worked out and about. I'll come up to the car and it the doors won't present until I take my phone out and fiddle with it. It's like my phone is asleep, or the car is, or both. I had the same issue with Tesla. I always run the latest iPhone.
This is one reason I...
That just adds another step to the chore of charging: open the door, get the light, turn it on, plug in, turn it off, go back to the door, return it. Two (un)plug steps instead of one. Also, you need to hold it in your hand, so no one-handed operation for unwieldy CCS plugs. Or hold it in your...
