As you may recall, Motor Intelligence posted slow sales for Rivian in January, which was picked up by this thread: [LOCKED DUE TO INACCURATE FIGURES] Rivian U.S. Sales January 2025. Someone then claimed they had an "inside source" that these numbers were "inaccurate". At best, that's hearsay and...
This afternoon I opened my powered tonneau, put some stuff in the bed, and pressed close. It went about a foot and then reversed itself.
I dry lube the tracks regularly and, upon checking, found they were free of any debris. Yet, the failing continued.
I thought perhaps the cover was...
PAAK has never worked reliably for me, though usually all that’s needed is to wake my phone. Twice it has stopped working while I was driving, which was scary, but I was able to get back home and find the fob. I hate PAAK and it’s a symbol of the hubris, technofetishism, and failed execution of...
It’s two failures in a row for me now. I don’t think PAAK will ever be reliable for me on my late model iPhone. I have to take out the phone and wake it up for the Rivian to unlock.
Any other pickup would have likely faired similarly. The front of the Silverado is a crumple zone and is designed to fold up like an accordion. The bed of any pickup, like the R1T, is not a crumple zone. When a crumple zone meets a non-crumple zone, the crumple zone always loses, as designed.
Better scrolling for large Apple Music playlists
This is a big one. The 50 song limitation was always a bit strange. I suspect Rivian wrote this app., not Apple, which is why it sucks so much.
Motion Cam improvements are welcome, but the cameras are of such poor quality on the G1 I'm still...
I've had one PAAK failure since the update: Gear Guard is on, but the car doesn't open. It's like it missed the trigger to wake up as I approached. This used to happen all the time, though, so maybe it is better with the update.
I wouldn't buy either the R1S or R1T again, because soon there will be better alternatives available, more cheaply (the Scout), with CarPlay. And, much more reliable. It's actually very hard to find a car manufacturer which makes less reliable cars. Maybe Tesla after a new model launch. I...
Rivian has designed cars which look at best look like geeky Minions and at worst look like hermaphrodites. They have big profitability and scalability challenges, really buggy software, service centers booking four months out, and totally unreliable cars.
Now they want to distract themselves...
I think Tesla gave Rivian a bunch of free adapters. It makes sense since Superchargers are now a profit center for them. Rivian will give those out for free, and when they stop getting them for free, they will stop giving them out gratis.
Oh no, another Tesla-like puff piece. "They're not a car company, they're an <X>!". Great.
Rivian pays their software developers terribly, and the stock is in the toilet, so there's no stock based compensation to make up for it. So if they're a tech company, they really suck at it. The quality...
The performance upgrade makes even low speed motoring about town a lot peppier, even in AP mode. It must modulate the throttle mapping to be more initially sensitive. It's quite enjoyable. Now, mind you, even the non-performance upgrade is miles ahead of every other porky SUV. It's...
It's great that you scored the roof racks, but that's not great customer service. Great customer service would be proactively inspecting and fixing every vehicle before delivery, like a real dealership would.
Instead, per policy, they intentionally try to unload problematic cars onto...
Any other brand's dealership is only going to offer you what they can get for the trade at auction a few days later. The fact that Rivian is offering more than other dealerships, but won't pay cash, means that they're actually offering more than the trade is worth at auction or in the R1...
This is great fan fiction and I'm sure it generates a lot of page views. I wouldn't consider this rando to be particularly objective. This channel recently published a video claiming that R1S sales are surging, even though Rivian sales are down 20% YoY for February. So if R1S sales are surging...
It's a nice tire but it tends to suck up little rocks into the tiny channels in the structure of the tire, which also tears them up a little bit. Buy a tire hook to get them out.
BTW, since you can now reprogram your tire sizes without visiting a service center, I would set them to 275/55 R21...
Thinking about his a bit more, it's probably caused by external zippers on jacket sleeves. I don't think I've ever owned a car with metal where it can be rubbed by an arm or elbow, probably because of the scratching potential, but also because it's not soft, so it's not comfortable. You could...
I agree, PAAK is actually working for me now for the first time ever. Or at least PAAK in combination with carrying the fob. Old habits die hard. Thank you, Rivian, this is really really nice!
Welcome to the Rivian family, “where repairs are not just a hobby, they are a full time job.” It’s likely there will be more repairs down the line.
