I remember last year that there was a run on the sage yukon denali's and I assume that has something to do with the color selection.
My wife and I are torn on the purple, blue, and launch green. We like the blue, but feel it would look odd next to our Rivian Blue R1S :) The purple is fun, but...
Yea, there were a number of us in our regional Facebook Rivian community that were hammering the site that day. Techincally the reservations opened up about 24 seconds before they opened the doors and rolled it on stage. My email confirmation says 1:01pm Eastern.
Honestly I was surprised this thread popped up with the comment from so long ago. I have to say that in the years since I really haven't used conserve even on road trips. I think I used it a couple of times in 2023 when we first got the Rivian, had some rainge anxiety, and maybe were running...
I wonder if it is possible they have the hardware in there and then they could enable it in the future? I mean, the LIDAR components have gotten a lot cheaper. If they did that thought you would think they would scream it from the rooftops as a selling point.
Yea, I can see that. The naming conventions aren't the best. V2L, you can just plug in anything like usual. V2H, well DC or AC? Generator inlet or bi-directional charger? 240v or 120v?
This isn't correct. There are PLENTY of solutions to use 220v AC to power a house. Your thinking about a bidirectional charger that would convert DC to AC for a house. IF you have a generator inlet on your house (or like me, a generator inlet that connects to my house battery as part of my solar...
If you are a AAA member they offer Emergency EV charging at no cost and Philly is one of the cities that offers it: https://ev.aaa.com/articles/roadside-assistance-in-an-electric-car/
There is a service there you can call that will bring emergency charging to you. Not sure how much it costs: https://www.beechargedev.com/mobile-ev-charging-service-in-philadelphia/#:~:text=If%20your%20EV%20battery%20runs,7%20on%2Ddemand%20EV%20charging.
March 2023 R1S build here with zero issues. Had a neighbor go out and start a brand new F150 which has obviously been around a long time and blow it's entire cooling system all over the driveway and total the car, Ford replaced it.
Stuff happens and there is no predicting it, and life is too...
I think this was a pretty big interview for RJ. Kara is VERY well known.
I would also add that Kara has been around the tech world for a long time. Used to work for the Washington Post and then the NYT in the early 2000s. She was someone who PERSONALLY knew Bezos, Gates, Jobs, Elon, etc...
I completely agree with this.
That said, I think your comparison here is really a game of inches. As everyone says, tires are efficiency, performance, noise... and maybe looks... you can pick two... and that holds here.
I'm not sure any tire is going to really increase your efficieny any...
Well, I'm not sure where you saw Rivian said not to reduce air pressure, but in the manual they actually recommend it and just say to not reduce it too much. (Page 226 of the user manual)
We just completed installation of solar panels and a single battery backup for our home before Christmas. It is a enphase solar panel system with a Franklin battery. I really liked the Franklin battery compared to Tesla and others for many reasons (has reserve so you can deplete the whole...
I always thought the discussions around range were interesting. Let's pretend that tomorrow, the same battery size could provide 1000 miles of range.
Whoever said that any manufacturer would produce a vehicle with that range? They would still just produce the same vehicle with, based on their...
VW has a system that will match the song and grab the song info and prioritize it over the radio station RDS broadcast and are now going to have to battle it in court because the local radio station warlord is pissed...
I have always thought that a Rivian partnership with Vail resorts would be perfect. They could put Rivian chargers at all the resorts, park one on the snow at the base area plugged in an heated and invite people to sit in it and warm up, do the coffee/hot chocolate out of the back for people...
