  1. The Verge: RIVIAN’S IPO Filing Reveals Amazon's Prime Influence

An IPO is all about pimping a future value so I get it but if Rivian really makes $70k over the lifetime of my truck purchase I’m going to be sad.
  2. Introducing Forever

I read the email and still don’t fully understand what it was saying but that was probably the point. Say lots of ESG words to get some free media cycles and maybe distract us from the release delays.
  3. What do you get for $67,500? Less and less, it appears.

All I can say is that any subscription better offer way over the top features. $550/year gets classified by me as required maintenance if it becomes de facto required to operate things such as nav, remote climate start, adaptive cruise control, etc.
  4. Predicting Rivian R1T Depreciation

Your hope isn’t very likely…short of a massive recession or major reliability issues.
  5. Alternate NEW Tax Credit Rebate

So if I buy 7.5 Rivian’s I get the 8th one free. Done and done
  6. Paranoia about colors / resemblance to other manufacturers i see all the time

I picked LG too but I can see in ten years LG being less favorable because of age since the color will immediate date itself.
  7. Time to delivery.... if I order now.

In fairness, it took me In fairness it took me almost a year to get my Tesla deposit refund back after I requested it. Ignored emails, etc. that said, I happily have a Rivian deposit and have yet to find a reason why I’d cancel it but it’s a nice interest free loan for the company.
  8. Insurance Cost / Quotes / Premiums Thread

Anyone quoting insurance based off MSRP is doing what the accounting/finance world calls a WAG. I get that we’re bored while waiting for delivery but it’s sorta silly to worry about insurance rates right now. To be fair, I can’t believe Tesla insurance is so relatively low since their threshold...
  9. Official: RIVIAN MEMBERSHIP Announced [1 year free trial beginning at day of delivery]

Well Amazon is a large investor so I suppose this was inevitable. Still buying one for now.
  10. What would you do if price increased?

I’d pay an extra $5k to skip the line and take delivery this week. Maybe more.
  11. Newest language on the EV incentive

MSRP wise Rivian can shift quite a few things to dealer installed options to skirt the cap. That said, there seems to be *real* inflation on the supplier side so I’m sure they are already feeling a lot of pressure to push up price.
  12. RJ Scaringe: first Rivian R1T deliveries delayed from July 2021 until September

Supply chain is the current #1 excuse from food to construction to cars. Quite frankly I don’t believe it. That said, I’m all about them ensuring QC. Would happily wait an extra 6months if reliability improves by 10%, I just wish they would say that.
  13. Simple Off Grid Solar Option?

10ton+ HVAC is a huge drain what was your quote and what was the battery system?
  14. Simple Off Grid Solar Option?

Thanks. I will eventually be building around a 50kW system. Probably more. My hope is I can efficiently reuse any components. panels are cheap enough so it’s really everything else. I’ve got plenty of room to ground mount.
  15. Simple Off Grid Solar Option?

I think the answer is no or else I would have found it but I’m looking for a short term ~year solar option to charge this car and maybe some other small other AC appliances like power tools (mostly battery powered). I don’t care about battery/night storage as this is a secondary structure.
  16. What EV Charger will you Buy?

code prohibited? That smells fishy. But yah, I’ve got a new luxe barn waiting for power hook up and can’t decide if I do 3ph here too. They’re not toys. If they were, I couldn’t 179 em.
