It’s not common in residential homes but it is commonly available and I have it at my house. it is common for high draw (elevator, compactor, large pumps etc). Much more efficient and don’t we all care about efficiency?
I’m probably most surprised by the corrosion warranty. Somewhat short for a warranty with so few claims historically but I guess they’re worried about you people taking these swimming in brackish water to get to your fav fishing spot.
It’s normal for an established company. Rivian is not. Even Tesla offered unlimited battery warranties when they first started to overcome this stigma. Rivian should offer some assurance for initial takers though I’m still inclined to roll the dice on it as long as timing of delivery works for me.
I don’t think they did through logistically it makes some sense. My guess is that they will send out trucks to major markets for release at the same time. Should be good free PR. Release either for morning or afternoon news circuit. That’s what I’d do.
Here is the flaw. My company makes $1m this year, if I sit on the cash in the company I have to pay Corp taxes on it, so I pay myself out the full amount as ordinary income. I could make zero next year but if I left it in the company I paid ~20% just to leave it for a reserve. I know boo hoo for...
Well this has sort of been the truth in highly anticipated new brands before. Fisher, Tesla, etc. My brother is 100% loyal to Tesla even though his S has had quite a few issues. The thing that makes me the most nervous about Rivian is that it’s likely a lot of the car won’t be serviceable by the...
Have loved the Bollinger concept for years but I have doubts it will make it to production. Even if it does you’ll be pushing 2x price Rivian unless something big happens. I’m still a potential buyer of that too but I can get an Acela truck NOW (yes diesel) but leaning that way a bit depending...
I’m a part-time farmer and still plan on getting a R1T. When I need more 16’ posts for barn construction I’ll still need a trailer or a flatbed to do this. Reality is there is nothing in the market that serves as a Swiss Army knife for what we do and can also be a practical vehicle for groceries...
Won’t happen. Value is based on future sales and cutting price hurts that exponentially. They’ve got so much invested I think they will lose money at the current price for a while which is okay
Their pricing isn’t that far out of line. Cutting battery capacity is unlikely to reduce their build cost much. This will never compete with a base model Tacoma but I could see a stripped version competing with mid-level 1500’s. I think it still remains to be seen if they make it. I hope they do...
Ford walked back this direction a 5-7 years ago with sync. True the tech has improved but tapping took more attention and was slower and bad I remember it freezing a lot.
Totally agree but a wrangler is towed because it’s short and light (and fun). I think I’ve noticed two RV’s towing a full size truck. And you can tow a full-size truck all you want but I don’t get the logic of increasing rolling resistance with a charge system. A trickle charge cable would would...
Maybe but unless they make a super lightweight version I don’t know any RV folks personally that would get this. Total RV tow group buying annually is 1,000 vehicles?
I have nothing against an RV towing a vehicle but a special feature with such low utilization makes no sense from a R&D...
This seems like more trouble than it’s worth because how often it is going be towed? RV’s pull jeeps and small cars adding resistance doesn’t seem like a great idea. Besides, I’ve been behind enough RV’s to notice how slow they already are. Seems like a feature 5% of owners would use about 1% of...
