I always do five tire rotations. Otherwise you’re basically throwing away an unused tire every 5-6 years based on just age. So you can just keep that one until it’s too old, or buy a new one and put it in rotation. If it were me and I had a new spare like yours, I’d just keep it as an unused...
Another odd new issue is that the displays got suddenly darker after the master reboot (not just after the update). All my settings were the same. I had to bias it towards lighter to make it legible in daylight. WTF.
Today I had this error when I had forgotten to put the Comma back into on-road mode. So the Comma was "half there" and seemed to lead to this. I parked, put it in on-road, and it was fine. This leads me to wonder if you may have a connection issue, particularly with the USB cables...
Same, and at home it seems worse, but not sure. I have the same settings. And yes, phone has been rebooted more than once. It's the walk-away locking, not the timed re-locking, haven't tested that. I just got home, and it did lock itself. But on errands with a few stops, it mostly didn't.
Both the Zune and Nano really were cult devices for a reason. But time moves on.
I'm going to see how much media I can fit on this...
Yes it still works. Yes, I have the fax-modem card too. And have used it, since I can fire up a fax line at home any time I want to (I run a small phone...
MOD NOTE: This might belong in the electronics subforum but please don't move it, I can't access my own threads in that forum (or any). Or, please fix that problem.
I've done a full reset and infotainment reset. Since the update lasts week, my Rivian won't auto-lock reliably. It didn't work...
Oh yeah, all seven of you guys were really vocal about it, LOL.
I'd say the everything-listening world, including video too. Podcasts, videocasts, there are so many hands-off options. Set up once and forget it. I camp and use the "adventure" part of my Rivian and there's no way I'd burn up...
The only time this happens to me any more is if I disconnect things while the car is in drive, or disconnect the long harness before the main/power. A lot of us remove the Comma often for various reasons, and these steps are 100% reliable for me:
Car in park (doesn't need to be in sleep)...
Have you tried disconnecting the Comma to see if it’s related or not?
As another datapoint, I’ve done a few hours of highway and city driving using a C4 with longitudinal since the update and zero issues. I let it drive to its full extent and only drive manually when required.
Yeah, it’s hilarious how many people here assume so much that isn’t true today. They must have used a Microsoft Zune 20 years ago and assume it’s all the same today. When I get in my Rivian it’s just ready to play what I last listened to. I can say “ hey Siri play the classic rock station” and...
Technology progressed to give us myriad ways to carry days or months worth of audio/video totally off grid. I sold my device and subscription when it first became possible to carry high quality audio without the limitation of needing the constant satellite connection.
Satellite radio was a great solution to a problem that stopped existing 20 some years ago. I was so happy to be rid of that horrid compression noise. I managed to sell my lifetime subscription for a bunch of money.
Starlink and ASTS have already demonstrated medium-bandwidth streaming, it's just not available to the public. The ability has been proven. It is even more likely to work with stationary/vehicle mounted antennas as compared to handsets.
Oh, that's right, that's another feature you get with the doubling in price.
Enshittification (also known as platform decay) describes the process where digital services and online platforms gradually degrade in quality to maximize short-term profits. Coined by author and technology critic Cory...
Unfortunately due to the various hallucinations and limits of LLMs, especially ChatGPT, this might or might not be true. It's possible that XM has a deal with Rivian/AT&T to stream their stuff without any data plan, and my post could be wrong.
I asked Claude, which is terrible for this kind of...
Got it, this thread has gone so many directions, I wanted to be clear. I found that annoying enough to pay Rivian, but again, that was many updates ago. I'd love to hear how it works for you. I have 60GB of hotspot on my phone, so plenty to stream.
OTOH, it won't help at all with car control...
From my light reading and AI analysis of Rivian's FCC filings, I don't see any that include that ability. So far, the offerings for this require hardware compatibility, though ASTS promises more (which is currently vaporware).
I'm not an XM user and have no interest in it, so I haven't looked...
