Yes on mine (R1S) and my wife's Model Y but unfortunately not as long...I've had it for about 2 months now - so far so good! I realize that's not a long time though so let's see. We have 0 hazing though and no noticeable scratches, just one defect caused by me during installation.

Umpf, that's a tough one. I will genuinely be surprised if it self heals... chemistry was never my strong suit, but my understanding is that these polymers tend to sort of "melt" from heat to the extent where their molecules can re-join (heal) without falling apart like traditional melting...

Let me test it a bit first... might take a while but I want to sure this won't melt or cause other issues. I don't actually stock anything that's like a mirror, but I do have gloss black PPF. The question is how hot would that get and what will happen then. I can test on the small (rear) sunroof...

I can make it from black PPF essentially but haven't thought of offering it that way...generally It think most people view the sunroof as something positive just want to tone down the heat.

Now the question is - is your friend buying a R1T after he gets his R1S back? :) I was recently in the Walnut Creek Rivian showroom and they had a R1T on display...my kids and I LOVED IT and I think I can totally switch from S to T but my wife is opposing the idea...

I had the same issue (Gen2 R1S). Mobile tech came and concluded it has to go to SC. SC fixed it for free (it was under warranty). Something related to the gears that rotate it.

Notice the self healing is activated by heat...you may want to hit it with a heat gun or just park on the driveway and let the sun do its job.

Wow! Did the film get any damage? It will be interesting if it will self-heal if it did.

Didn’t they get a government loan for the Georgia plant? Not that they won’t need to repay it one day but it’s on a different timeline than spending cash on hand. They’re in a bit of a chicken/egg situation, so it’s definitely a bet. I hope it works out!

Technically speaking the UV+IR film has 85% IR rejection. I tested this myself (I have a Tint Enforcer device, similar to what police use) and can confirm.
