I'm a latecomer to both Tesla and Rivian, and most of my stock investments are in an IRA S&P 500 index fund. I tend not to invest in individual stocks much as I'm an amateur, don't follow the markets that closely and the S&P index fund results over the long term tend to be better than active...
Good to know about the Rivian chargers at Under Canvas. Might be worth staying there to start with a full charge!
Actually just checked their site and looks like they start at $249-$304 per night depending on the season, so maybe not...
@moosehead - I'd like to do it on a mountain bike as well, perhaps with the Rivian as a support vehicle for camping gear etc. And yes, some solar recharging capability would be awesome - seems like we are still a ways off from that being a realistic way to add range though?
R1S with Large pack has a projected range of 316 miles
Subtract 10-15% for All-Terrain wheels and tires = 268-284 miles
Driving at low speeds on steep and slippery surfaces presumably cuts range further.
I'm not sure by how much - maybe 50% or so?
Leaving 134-142 miles of true off-road range...
Another vote and reservation for 5 seat config. Never need more seats and would have preferred more cargo space or max battery pack. And when sleeping in the vehicle more headroom would be useful.
Magna Steyr factory in Austria will be manufacturing the Fisker Ocean. They're apparently well regarded and have experience building high end cars for a variety of brands. Sounds like a good move for Rivian.
Our garage door clearance is so low, I don't think the R1S will fit with the roof bars on! It should just barely fit with them off. So I'll be leaving them off unless we need the roof box for a trip.
I understand that the removable roof feature may be appealing to some - but personally I think of it as an unnecessary complication and likely failure point that I would not want in any vehicle. Plus you have to figure out what to do with it when you take it off...
The fixed glass roof is...
The sense of entitlement from Rivian is amazing to me. They need us A LOT more than we need them. And they showed that by backtracking on their surprise price hike when we collectively revolted. They are now trying to figure out just how much they need to do to keep us. They created this problem...
Fully agree, some warning would have been nice if they wanted us to finalized the config on a configurator that THEY ENCOURAGED US TO PLAY AROUND WITH, with options that most of us have never seen in person and there is very limited info on. Not to mention the options you choose may drastically...
We have a reservation for a Lightning and an R1S. Likely won't get either until at least 2023, but really want the Rivian. We just installed solar panels on our home, with extra capacity and are highly motivated to get rid of all 3 of our ICE vehicles and replace them with 2 EVs.
Initially we...
I also had not finalized my configuration, have been changing it daily to weekly, playing around with different options and going back and forth between the Explore and Adventure package R1S. I'm not even sure what my config was on Feb 28! I also didn't like the tone of this email from Rivian...
Agree, we reserved an R1S and have no use for 3rd row seats. Would much prefer additional storage and/or larger battery.
Really pissed at the massive price increase and this is just insult on top of injury.
First time I've posted here, but I've been lurking for a few months and learned a ton. Reserved an R1S in early Jan 2022 - wasn't on my radar till then, but we just got solar panels on our house and will be buying an EV soon. Also reserved a Lightning but was really psyched about the R1S and...
