Yes. My VW.ID4 has an actual sunshade for the roof. I understand that the glass in the tesla style roofs blocks out a lot of the heat, but I really like being able to close the sunshade.
Amen to the real HVAC controls. Add to it audio controls. Bury the mirror and steering wheel adjustments and other such junk in a touch screen all you want, but give me a real button for the stuff I hit every time I am in the car.
I have an environmental chemist friend who studies air quality and global warming. We had the exact same discussion. My wife and I drive maybe 6k miles a year total. I was making the argument that I probably shouldn’t contribute to the needless production of extra vehicles despite my desire to...
Yes it isn’t perfect, and in order to make a short video there are often sweeping generalizations, but they are directionally correct and consistently well informed.
That guys channel is pretty awesome. I have watched a ton of his videos, always well put together.
For me personally, my current car is probably better. I just don't drive enough to hit the brake even point for quite some time.
The other thing to remember with EV's is not only is there no engine noise but you have the battery pack between you and the road. Road noise is more muted than in a similar ICE because of all that material between you and the road below. An EV with acoustic glass and the windows up is...
100% Agree. The overlap in target audience is huge. Especially considering they are the only large all electric SUV's. While Rivian is positioning their brand as "off road / adventure friendly" that doesn't stop others from buying the car. A very sizable percentage of Land Rovers and Jeep...
Currently I have a 2014 Subaru Forester and a VW ID.4. I don’t need another car now and usually drive cars for many years before replacing them. Also the Rivian R1S I have on preorder is way more car than I need. I do Subaru level off-roading not wrangler level off-roading. I also am not a...
My next car purchase will be an off road capable EV with room for road trips probably in a SUV format. I only have a family of 3 and therefore don’t need the room of the R1S and honestly my off-roading needs are more Subaru level than Rivian level. However at the moment Rivian is the only thing...
On a single car basis you are right, but my logic follows like this:
1. the higher the price of thee car AND the higher a buyers income, the less the incentive plays in to the equation. At some point people get what they want. Someone cross shopping a Taycan is unlikely to be swayed by $7.5k...
I will add I am also heavily in favor of caps on vehicle cost (and income levels) for these rebates. I bought my first EV recently and would have done so without the incentive. The government is wasting money on people with means who want an EV. I would rather have much bigger incentives to...
Hard limits like this are always a terrible idea. Phasing out incentives is much much better. If you put a hard cap on these tax incentives at any single price point, you heavily distort the market in a way that is bad for consumers and manufactures alike. When a 69k SUV really costs 61k...
I mostly want to be able to put a tablet hanging from the rear of the passenger seat at eye level for my kid on long drives. Couldn't care less in the front of the car, but the kiddo must be subdued on long drives :)
Haha, you and me are in the same boat exactly. I swap between LA Silver, El Cap and Forest Green. From the pictures I like the FG the best, but keep changing my mind. I am also curious about Limestone, but there are so few pictures of that out there. I also do like Rivian Blue, but I think...
Thanks for the post. For me I don't love FE enough from pictures to pay an extra fee for it. Maybe after I saw it in person I would, but as it is now it is something that is my clear 3rd preference.
I also had a black car with black leather interior for a long time (it just died after 19...
