  1. Budman

    Paul Bunyans Garage of Minnesota

Had the Pirrelli All Season OEMs for 3 years. They were OK and I'll still use them in the Summer but I now also have the 20" Nokian Outpost nAT all terrains for winter and summer off-road camping trips. The Nokians are very good in snow and OK on ice.
  2. The sad tail of my R1S dual standard LFP...

As someone living in the cold climate of Minnesota I will not be buying a LFP battery. It is cheaper but there are significant downsides you need to be aware of! I got the Max Pack on my R1T and am happy I made the investment. -15 Deg F last night!
  3. R2 has Lidar!!!! First look at windshield notch location on R2 (with R2D2 wrap)

They mentioned "hundreds of dollars" for LiDAR hardware. Yes, that is the piece part price but those that want autonomy should pay the FULL development costs. The autonomy package should be an option that costs thousands of dollars. I don't want to pay for the development costs for something...

This is what is on the RivianTrackr site regarding initial R2 shipments and LIDAR
  5. Rivian Autonomy & AI Day! Lidar, Hands-Free Driving, Rivian Assistant & more announced

Who will want the early R2's without LIDAR??? Me. Don't give a flying fig about self driving. The sales pitch articulated today is I will get my time back to "be on my phone or read a book". I already spend too much time on my phone and I have audio books. Autonomy turns me from an active...
  6. Question: L2 and battery preconditioning.

2025.38.30, That's what I have and I have the cold charging issue.
  7. Level 2 charging issues since last update

Interesting about moving the charger inside. I noticed this cold charging issue early on before any other forum posts were made. I was Level 1 charging at a VRBO so the truck was parked outside in single digit weather and snow falling. In my trouble shooting I thought maybe snow or ice got...
  8. Digital Key Support coming in 2025.46 OTA Update this month

I super dislike being frustrated by the erratic locking behavior of the phone key....... I have tried it. Multiple times. Frustrating every time. Walk away, turn around after 100 feet and wait, wait, wait for the doors to lock. Maybe..... Or be at the skiing or mt bike trail head and have...

  11. Question: L2 and battery preconditioning.

I’ve used the “prepare battery for fast charging” button on the charging screen.
  12. Question: L2 and battery preconditioning.

This is a new thing. I had my Gen 2 R1T all last winter with no issues. I've been through a couple cycles of this now and this has worked for me. 1. Warm battery. 2. SOFT reset. 3. Leave vehicle and let it go "to sleep" 4. Plug in Level 2 I have not tried the hard reset method. Hoping for...
  13. R2 Assembly Production Rate & Time Per Vehicle + Annual Capacity (and vs. R1)

The Model Y is a stripped down to the bones basic car. It's affordable but bland.
  14. Swapping 20 inch AT wheels and tires with 21 inch wheels with Michelin MS/2 AS tires

I swap between 22" all seasons and 20" AT's. I'd go with the 22" over the 21" because they are much more widely available than the 21".
  15. 20" Inch Efficient Winter Tires Compilation List - 275/60R20

Adding a little info to this thread. I have the Nokian Hakkepilltta R5 SUV on our Volvo XC40 EV and the Nokian Outpost nAT on our Rivian R1T. At cold weather neither of these tires result in a big loss of efficiency. But at warmer temperatures the Outpost nAT has much worse efficiency. I...
  16. Question: L2 and battery preconditioning.

Based on my experiences and others the following procedure seems to work. 1. Preconditioning to heat the battery. I think around 40 is enough 2. Soft reset 3. Sleep cycle of vehicle. Give it a few minutes to fully shut down and “sleep” 4. Plug in level 2 charger The soft reset plus a...
  17. Question: L2 and battery preconditioning.

No idea why but that procedure seems to be working for folks. Glad it did for you!
  18. Question: L2 and battery preconditioning.

Do a software reset. Then a sleep cycle for 5 or so minutes. Reset by pushing the outer most buttons on the steering wheel.
