  1. Get front light bar to show soc

At least on my Gen 1, the green light bar is setting dependent. On all the time or off when locked. It may also be possible to set it to never light up, I can’t remember because I like having it on when I first plug in to be sure it’s charging properly, before it shuts off when locked.
  2. Rivian Front Headlights

I bet the guys worrying about R1T headlights needing gender affirmation probably wouldn’t agree. ?
  3. Rivian Front Headlights

Nice T-bird! And it’s almost Rivian Blue! ā€˜57?
  4. NACS adapters now available in the Gear Shop just to annoy those of use still waiting

My R1S is June 2023 delivery, and I just got my adapter last week. I'm reading that November 2023 deliveries are getting or about to get theirs. So clearly Tesla's (not under Rivian's control, for those complaining here) production has increased, and they are catching up rapidly. Take a deep...
  5. Bloomberg: "Cracked Skull, Fractured Bones Show Dangers at Rivian's Factory"

I'm sure there's some bias in the accident reporting, especially during a unionization drive, but where there's smoke there's fire. Having worked in large corporations, my guess is that factory line managers may be pushing employees to forego safety measures to increase productivity, as in the...
  6. Honest Opinion From Current Owners? - Re: R1S

I've had an R1S for 15 months and love it. Some initial issues with the 12V system (turned out to be a loose ground cable) that had it in the service center during the first two weeks, but has been perfect since then. It replaced a 7.5 year old Tesla Model X that I was happy with but didn't want...
  7. R2 and R3X are at new Boston Rivian Space

I was there on Thursday. The R2 and R3X were cool, but I really enjoyed talking for an hour total with a senior interior designer of R1/2 and a software interface engineer. Very interesting discussions. As someone mentioned above, these display cars (at least the R2) are locked-in designs. I...
  8. Absolutely sick of Alexa's god-awful navigation

The navigation itself is generally fine. Occasionally gives me an oddly roundabout route, but so did my Teslas and other mapping apps. Where it falls down is the Alexa voice input. It seemed to work okay initially (I’ve had my car since July 2023), maybe even improved in the first few months...
  9. Wall charger vs. 14-50 plug in.

At a shared family cabin in the woods I had a local contractor install a NEMA 14-50 outlet when I got my first EV (Model S) in 2013. Over the years a number of family members bought Model 3s and Ys, so we had more occasions of having to move the plug from one car to another when two or more...
  10. Tesla Supercharging (NACS Charging) Now Available in Rivian App! Step By Step Instructions

There’s a new charger or two in VT near Burlington, but basically out of range from Boston unless you’re very focused on managing your speed and consumption. But in NH, Manchester is about it. It doesn’t help you with Sunapee, but the West Lebanon NH RAN is a godsend. I’ve made multiple trips...
  11. 2025 R1S - Week 1 (coming from Model X)

Also just a note that if you leave a front seat belt latched the car will not go to sleep and sound system and HVAC will stay on. Never happened to me but I have read about this here.
  12. Sport Mode Gen 1 Quad is ridiculous

Over the weekend had an older couple up to our place in the Adirondacks. They love Teslas since I first showed them my Model S ten years ago, and arrived in their third, a Model Y. He was a little skeptical of the Rivian until I took them on a few miles of some pretty steep logging trails in the...
  13. Highway assist disengaging when hands moved on wheel.

Yeah when the update with Apple Music came out, suddenly my driver+ became useless. I’d turn it on and it would after a few seconds start warming me it was going to disengage. Occasionally it also wouldn’t even start because it said I wasn’t holding the wheel (which I was). Following...
  14. Anyone using the third-row (R1S) for dog transport

We have two labradoodles, about 30 and 45 pounds. I got them Kurgo crash-tested harnesses from Petco that I clip to the buckled seat belts using rock climbing carabiner straps I got from REI (the original straps got lost, and these are sturdier). Usually I just throw old towels on the second...
  15. Best seat back protection for R1S second row when carrying skis in the back?

I use a ski bag and throw an old towel over any place where there might be friction. If you really need ski space, have your two rear passengers squeeze over and fold down 1/3 of the seat.
  16. Adapter for Tesla Universal Charger

I think this issue is completely addressed by Tesla through general firmware updates at this point. My Universal Wall Connector was installed and configured in my absence in early 2023 with no tech support or special update. It has worked perfectly with my R1S and a RAV4 Prime since. When you...
  17. Devastated… rear ended in my brand new week-old 2025 R1S

Sorry this happened to you. Get yourself and the car right, hopefully you could get a replacement new R1S. Glad that you hadn’t made the school pickup already so kid(s) weren’t involved.
  18. I am at a loss, Rivian service is broken and I can't take it anymore

I’m sorry you’ve had to go through all of this, OP. Fortunately my mid-2023 build R1S has had few issues and the Boston Service Center seems to handle things better than El Segundo, but this is clearly a systemic Rivian problem that needs to be addressed. And they really need to get on it...
  19. Frunk temp hotter than expected, is this normal?

Hope you didn't eat the whole glob at once!
  20. Frunk temp hotter than expected, is this normal?

I live in New England so putting things in the frunk in winter isn’t a problem, but in summer I make sure to put heat-tolerant items. Supermarket is five minutes away so if not too hot out I’ll use the frunk. On our first road trip this summer my youngest’s bag was in the frunk, and her...
